How Jurgen Klopp could line up with Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and two other Liverpool signings

This is our dream line-up for Liverpool for the 2023-24 season with Dominik Szoboszlai arriving and Alexis Mac Allister already in the bag

Liverpool’s summer rebuilding looks set to continue with the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds agreed last night to pay the £60m release clause in the RB Leipzig star’s contract. It comes after they triggered the £35m clause in Alexis Mac Allister’s Brighton & Hove Albion deal last month.

It wasn’t long ago that the name plastered all over the Reds rumors was Jude Bellingham. But though talented and desperately sought after by fans, it quickly became a fact that the Borussia Dortmund prodigy was not within the budget allocated to Jurgen Klopp. More goals were probed as the England international completed an inaugural £88.5million move to Real Madrid.

The silence following Mac Allister’s announcement led to a brief period of unease with just a week until the return of Liverpool’s first-team squad to AXA Training Center for pre-season preparation. However, the announcement of a deal with Leipzig for Szoboszlai put those emotions aside.

The midfield signings make for an exciting and youthful partnership that spans many bases. Mac Allister has proven himself suited to midfield roles, while Szoboszlai can break into attacking positions in the center or as a full back. Their signings also point in one direction – the continued use of Klopp’s modified formation which saw his side finish last season in the Premier League on an 11-game unbeaten streak.

The main differences to Klopp’s traditional 4-3-3 were the employment of a defensive trio, allowing Trent Alexander-Arnold to push into midfield. Two midfielders would sit in front of the defence while the others would push on to form an attacking quintet.

So, that being said, where do Liverpool require further strengthening ahead of their quest to get back to the top of the pile?

With their two attacking midfielders ticked off the shopping list, first a more defensive-minded runner to fit in alongside Alexander-Arnold would complete the midfield equation. And Kephren Thruam could well fit the bit.

Then it would come down to what Klopp wishes to do with the left-sided role in defence – stick with Andy Robertson, or find a centre- back.

The Scotland captain has poven he can fill in that position for his country when asked, and has done so for his club last season. However, the verstatile Micky van de Ven would be the perfect final signing to act as rotation and understudy in that area.

Liverpool’s dream line-up (3-2-5): Alisson; Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson/Micky van de Ven; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Khephren Thuram; Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz.

Jurgen Klopp handed  Arsenal major Romeo Lavia transfer blow as Liverpool set to €40 million star

Romeo Lavia attracts interest from top Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City following Southampton’s relegation last season

Arsenal have lost ground in the race to sign Southampton star Romeo Lavia in the summer transfer window. The Belgian midfielder is expected to leave Saints following relegation from the Premier League.

North Londoners are keen to strengthen their midfield options during the summer transfer window, understands football.london. West Ham captain Declan Rice remains high on Mikel Arteta’s wish list and the Gunners have now agreed a £105m deal for the 24-year-old.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have both been linked with departures this summer, which could force Arsenal to sign at least two new midfielders for next season.

Kai Havertz has been confirmed as the Gunners’ first signing this summer, with the German expected to fill a No. 8 role, similar to Martin Odegaard’s.
Southampton boss Russell Martin has said some players will be leaving the Saints this summer, possibly including Lavia. Martin told reporters:

“Obviously people are going to leave, that’s what happens when you have such a difficult season last season and you go out of the Premier League.

“I’ve been there and it’s not that easy. Any player in the dressing room could think about going back to the Premier League, but it’s not that simple.”

It now appears Liverpool are leading the race for the 19-year-old’s talent alongside Chelsea, while the Gunners fall behind in the race to sign Lavia. A report from Football Transfers on 90min says Arteta’s side are trailing their Premier League rivals as competition for the Belgian midfielder intensifies.

If Arsenal want to make a bid for Lavia, they will have to shell out between £40m and £50m this summer, according to the Daily Mail. The Belgian’s high rating is said to be due to three clauses included in his contract.

The first is in regard to Man City, his former side, being able to match any bid that arrives with a buyback clause – around £40million. The final clause entitles City to 20% of any future sale.
[7/1, 6:29 AM] ineomonclement: 3 ways Liverpool could line up with Dominik Szoboszlai and two other transfers

Liverpool are keen on signing Dominik Szoboszlai as their next signing and this deal, combined with a few others, would give Jurgen Klopp plenty of options.

Liverpool are pushing to sign midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, with Newcastle United reportedly out of contention in a bid to give the Reds a major boost.

The Reds were initially pessimistic about their prospects of a deal but according to David Ornstein of The Athletic they are now confident a deal can be done. Sky Sports report that Newcastle have dropped out of the race after the player hinted he wanted Liverpool.

Szoboszlai has a release clause worth $76m (£60m/€70m) in his contract from Leipzig, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will activate it or try to negotiate a fee. lower transfer rates. If Liverpool can pull it off, they would become the club’s second signing this summer after Alexis Mac Allister and the latest installment in a planned midfield rebuild.

The 22-year-old is likely to be deployed by the Reds in an attacking midfield position but has proven to be extremely versatile throughout his career, operating as a number eight, number 10 and as a winger on both flanks.

Here, Liverpool.com takes a look at three different roles Szoboszlai could fill in Jürgen Klopp’s line-up, along with some new faces.

OPTION ONE: Alisson; Konaté, Van Dijk, Inacio; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Gakpo, Díaz

Right now, this feels like the best fit for the Hungarian — the right-sided number eight role. That player has typically been granted more offensive license in Klopp’s new system, and a specialist like Szoboszlai would be capable of significant output based on his tally of 10 goals and 13 assists last season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold would sit in a double pivot alongside Fabinho to afford Szoboszlai the freedom to operate, with all-rounder Mac Allister providing balance on the left.

Klopp may be hearing calls for a more defensive presence on the left side of his defence, with some concerned Andy Robertson is not suited to play at left centre-back when Liverpool have possession. One potential candidate is Gonçalo Inácio, who spent some time in that position for Sporting last season and is on Liverpool’s shortlist (via David Lynch/Football Insider).

Mohamed Salah is nailed to play up front, and Cody Gakpo and Luis Díaz provide the best replica of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, the gold standard when it comes to offensive formation.

OPTION TWO: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Koné, Szoboszlai, MacAllister; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz

There’s also the possibility that Klopp will use Alexander-Arnold in his more traditional full-back role in some games, rather than pushing him into midfield at times.

This would leave Liverpool with a three-man midfield rather than a ‘box’ and require Szoboszlai to defend a little more as a deeper number eight. Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Koné, one of the targets in the club’s defensive midfield (according to The Athletic), would take the lion’s share, also aided by Mac Allister

OPTION THREE: Alisson; Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Alexander Arnold, Fabinho, Thuram, MacAllister; Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Diaz

There is also the possibility that Klopp is not using Szoboszlai as a midfielder at all. According to The Athletic’s initial report, Nice’s Khéphren Thuram is one of the club’s main targets and, while he also probably looks best suited to the number eight position on the right, the manager can fit both into the lineup. .

Salah is rarely injured, but if Klopp wants to give him some rest – perhaps in the Europa League – then he can push Szoboszlai up the right wing, where he played an important role at Leipzig last season, and give the midfield a slightly different shape . box’. I wait.
