Manchester United supporters group ‘The 1958’ are planning two early-season protests when the Premier League season kicks off next week.

The group have called for a 60-minute ‘glazers out’ sit-in after Nottingham Forest’s game at Old Trafford, as well as a separate protest ahead of their Premier League game against Wolves on Monday August 14.

Last season fans staged several protests against the owner, which included marches to the stadium from several locations in Manchester. During pre-season, some fans demonstrated outside the Old Trafford Megastore on the day of the United home kit launch to voice their views in the meeting room.

In November, the Glazers announced they were exploring “strategic alternatives” to the United States ownership model. However, progress appears to have stalled and the takeover saga is still ongoing.

The 1958s have already made it clear that the protests won’t end until the Glazer family have fully departed the club and new plans have been announced for the first two home games.

On Monday, 1958 encouraged United fans to gather at the Holy Trinity statue outside Old Trafford at 6.30pm to protest ownership. For the next home game against Vorst on Saturday 26 August, the group will go one step further. After the final whistle against the East Midlands club, The 1958 are asking fans to stay in the stadium for an hour to protest against the Glazers. In a recent appeal to fans on Twitter Spaces, a spokesperson for the group said: “We have to try. We will only be successful if the Manchester United fans going to the match join us and stay for the sit-in. We have a load of brochures to hand out to game visitors at Wolves and will further promote them ahead of Vorst.
