Manchester United’s next potential sporting director, Paul Mitchell, was spotted in the stands for Getafe’s clash with Cadiz.

Mason Greenwood is currently on loan at Getafe, after it was announced he would not play for the Red Devils again. Greenwood was arrested in January last year following charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control. He denied the charges.

After the charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February, United launched their own internal investigation. They decided Greenwood would not continue his career at United.

Greenwood started for Jose Bordalas’ side and also provided the assist, as cameras caught Mitchell in the stands. Mitchell is currently in high demand after he left Monaco last month.

And reports have suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to bring him to Old Trafford if he is able to acquire 25% of the club. Mitchell has recently returned to the north west, adding fuel to the fire he is Old Trafford bound.

Recent reports have suggested that the INEOS chief expects his £1.3billion offer to buy 25 per cent of the club to be approved in the coming week – and he’s already held meetings with the Glazers about future plans.

Sir Jim’s takeover looks set to occur almost one year on from when the Glazers first put the Red Devils on the market. And Britain’s richest man has beaten competition from Qatar and Sheikh Jassim to purchase a minority stake in the club.
