Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano outlines Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s vision for Mason Greenwood’s future.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plan for Mason Greenwood’s future outlined by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is on loan at Getafe for the 2023/24 campaign, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plan for the 21-year-old has been outlined.
The United academy graduate left the club on deadline day following an announcement from the club that Greenwood would not restart his career at Old Trafford.
Greenwood was arrested on charges of domestic violence in January 2022, although the player denied these claims, and eventually, the case was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.
It was former chief executive Richard Arnold who made the decision that Greenwood should leave the club following an embarrassing U-Turn because of a negative reaction from the fanbase.
Now, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to take control of footballing operations as part of his investment into the club, the ultimate decision on Greenwood’s situation after his loan expires will be down to him and his new team.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ratcliffe has not made a decision on whether he will bring back Greenwood yet.
It was added that his idea is to take some time, let Greenwood play for Getafe, and then next year, between March and May, discussions will begin on the position of Greenwood, based on his performances at Getafe and other factors.
This falls in line with recent reports from The Athletic, which stated that Getafe hope to open talks with United in April to explore the possibility of keeping the player at Estadio Coliseum if he continues his good form.
Greenwood has four goals and three assists in 11 appearances for Getafe this season.
