Kalvin Phillips tells Man City he wants permanent move after Everton news

Kalvin Phillips is pushing to find a permanent move away from Man City this summer after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that Phillips is not keen on another loan move and wants to settle at a new club under a new manager.

Stefan Borson: Man City could receive ‘Substantial’…

The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham in a disastrous spell which saw several poor performances before he dropped out of the team.

Football Insider revealed on 21 July that City are now prepared to accept offers of £20million to let the 28-year-old leave this summer.

Both Everton and Aston Villa have been keeping an eye on the midfielder’s progress, but sources say a loan move would be the preferred option for both clubs.

Kalvin Phillips pushing for Man City exit as permanent deal on cards

Phillips joined Man City from Leeds in 2022 in a deal worth £42million, but has made just 31 appearances for the club in that time – 17 of which came from the bench.

Ahead of Euro 2024, he moved to West Ham in an attempt to boost his chances of making the squad, but featured only ten times, starting just three of those games, and failed to impress.Sources say the midfielder feels a permanent move would be better for all parties as it would allow him to settle and have time to show his new club what he can do.

However, given the financial issues both Aston Villa and Everton have suffered in recent months, they would be more likely to entertain a loan deal to help their profit and sustainability margins.

While Phillips is pushing for an exit, City are also looking to cut their losses and will sanction a hugely cut-priced deal in a bid to offload him as quickly as possible this summer.

Football Insider revealed that Everton made the first move to sign Phillips on 17 July, but no formal offer has materialised yet.

In other news, Newcastle are closing in on a deal to sign Noni Madueke.
