Three players top of Jurgen Klopp’s summer list as Liverpool need more than Bellingham

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has named three players who should be high on Jurgen Klopp’s summer shopping list.

The Reds face a busy off-season as they look to invest more in the squad after their issues have been laid bare this season.

The Liverpool midfielder was vulnerable at times and susceptible to being overwhelmed. Jude Bellingham is among the names linked with a move to Anfield.

The Spaniard named Max Aarons, Denzel Dumfries and Bukayo Saka as players to target. Despite being a world-class player, Enrique thinks they need more than the 19-year-old, he told Genting Casino:

I want Bellingham and Rice to join Liverpool next season, but I highly doubt that will happen via FSG. I still believe that if Liverpool don’t qualify for the Champions League, we can get Bellingham. The problem with Liverpool is that they don’t need just one player, they need several. They need at least two midfielders plus a right winger to compete with Salah as there is no competition for him there.

They also need a player who will rival Trent for his position as Calvin Ramsay came on but suffered a long-term injury. It is unrealistic to sign both Bellingham and Rice. It is not always quantity that prevails over quality. Look at Chelsea, they just buy what they want and they haven’t been successful. But in Liverpool now they don’t have to buy one or two players, but four or five players. For example, if Klopp is backed with £300m pound, I’ll say yes, go ahead and get Rice and Bellingham, as well as other players in the positions I’ve mentioned. One player who has impressed me is Max Aarons from Norwich who currently plays in the Championship. This is a player who can live up to Trento at this level. Although, if Alexander-Arnold is at the top level, no one can compete with him, don’t get me wrong. He’s been at this level for so many years. I think Max Aarons is also a cheap alternative and a real right-back who can compete at that level. Denzel Dumfries is also a good player that comes to mind from Inter, but he will want to play all the time and not come on as a substitute for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

This is unrealistic for an outsider, but I like Bukayo Saka. That’s not going to happen, so I’m a Bowen fan too.

Liverpool “transfer without eyes” for Adrien Rabiot

Liverpool are reportedly looking to transfer Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as his contract in Italy expires at the end of the season.

Reports from Italy, notably Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, suggest the Reds are exploring the possibility of signing Rabiot on a free transfer when his Serie A contract expires in the summer. He joined Juventus in 2019 after leaving PSG and could look to move to England.

Maximiliano Allegri’s side have suffered a points deduction which has thrown their season into trouble and it has been claimed their chances of retaining the 27-year-old are slim if he misses out on European places.

Stefan Bajcetic continues to thrive in the midfield three but it’s no longer a secret that the department needs upgrading. Jude Bellingham was a hot name to pick up in midfield, but Liverpool are preparing for a busy summer.

Liverpool have told Price to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

According to Fichajes, Liverpool will have to pay more than £100 million if they want to sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The striker made his mark after some brilliant performances in Serie A and the Champions League for Luciano Spalletti’s side.

The 22-year-old has 12 goals and 14 assists this season as the current Napoli squad attempts to immortalize themselves in club folklore.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool will have to break the bank if they want to sign him. Naturally, they will face competition as top clubs from across Europe surround the Georgian. Jürgen Klopp wins best director as Virgil van Dijk’s improbable truth comes to light

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been talked about a lot this season, with the England international ultimately being one of many Liverpool players who are not at his best.

Criticism of his defensive abilities has grown increasingly loud, with a mid-season World Cup and the debate over his place in England a admittedly unwanted distraction.

Meanwhile, his offensive returns are nowhere near previous levels. With 18 assists last season as the Reds nearly got an unprecedented quadruple, he surprisingly failed to register one before the World Cup break.

And even en route to Liverpool’s trip to Newcastle, the right-back had officially registered just two assists this season. But that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Alexander-Arnold’s cross, set up by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain against Brentford and Darwin Nunez against Wolves in the FA Cup, was Wout Faes’ first own goal in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Leicester City in December. Meanwhile, he was deprived of his assist for Cody Gakpo’s goal against Everton on Monday night due to distraction.

Inter want to take advantage of Marcelo Brozovic

Italian giants Inter Milan are set to benefit from midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian is one of the many midfielders linked to the move to Liverpool and, again according to what was reported by the Calciomercato, Jürgen Klopp’s team is among those interested.

According to the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport via TeamTalk, Inter want to sell the midfielder in the summer to make money.

Tottenham are also among those looking to bolster their midfield ranks. He has suffered a number of injuries in recent weeks, including a season-ending knee problem for Rodrigo Bentancur.

Monitor stand for Barcelona

According to reports, Barcelona have joined the race to sign Mason Mount. Xavi’s side are keeping tabs on the Chelsea midfielder, with his time at Stamford Bridge still in doubt.

Some of his teammates have signed exceptional new deals, but he remains on his current terms. Now his contract is approaching the last year.

Liverpool have been linked with the England international and there have been reports in recent weeks that Jürgen Klopp’s side have been monitoring the situation.

According to the transfer market, the Catalan giants are ready to enter the race to sign the 24-year-old. Mount’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2024 but with numerous new arrivals at Stamford Bridge in the last month including Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix, Mount has reportedly been looking for a significantly upgraded contract that would put him at a salary level comparable to some of his well-known colleagues.

Last injury in Liverpool: Darwin Nunez

Jürgen Klopp easily points out the "most negative aspect" of Liverpool's win over Newcastle

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Darwin Nunez needed further investigation after being substituted with a shoulder injury in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United. The Uruguayan opened the scoring for the Reds early on and completed well after a high pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold up front. But he was substituted just before the hour mark after landing awkwardly on his shoulder when he initially tried to play on.

Liverpool host Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday night before traveling to Crystal Palace next Saturday.

And speaking to reporters after the final whistle, Klopp admitted the striker doubted an injury after the painful blow.

“The bad news is that Darwin has something on his shoulder,” the German told reporters. “We’ll see. I don’t know what he whistled in that situation, to be honest against him.

“He ended up leaving with a shoulder problem and we need further investigation. I don’t know at the moment. It hurts at the moment. I hope it’s just painful and nothing else.”
