The reason why Jurgen Klopp didn’t celebrate his mark after Liverpool 7-0 Man Utd

Liverpool made history last night by beating arch-nemesis Manchester United 7-0 in a fantastic spectacle.

Every player on this pitch for Liverpool has scored at least an 8 out of 10, with players like Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo being near perfect. As good as Liverpool were, United were absolutely sad and no player could say they gave 100 per cent.

Braces from Salah, Gakpo and Darwin Núñez and a late goal from Roberto Firmino helped limit United to their worst defeat since Boxing Day 1931. A great afternoon for Liverpool

The match represented a veritable explosion of emotion from Liverpool, who have performed well below their usual standards so far this season. However, after yesterday’s result they could be considered favorites for fourth place given the game against Tottenham, and yesterday’s game looked like an important step in that journey to keep football in the Champions League.

However, there have been several bad days for Liverpool this season.

After a mixed start, they beat Manchester City 1–0 at Anfield, seemingly kick-starting their season, only to lose 1–0 at Nottingham Forest and 2–1 at home to Leeds in two of their next three games.

As the new year began, Liverpool suffered another slump, including hammer blows from Brighton and Wolves before impressive wins over Merseyside rivals Everton and top four hopes Newcastle looked to have steadyed the ship. However, in the following game, Liverpool took a 2-0 lead against Real Madrid in the Champions League, only to crumble and lose 5-2.

Despite these false premonitions, yesterday’s result was different, there was a sense of unity and passion shared by players and fans alike, and every goal was rightly delirious.

After the game, Liverpool players and fans were delighted, but one man who fell short of his usual post-victory antics was Jurgen Klopp, who was much more measured in his celebrations.

was buzzing, but one man who failed to live up to his usual post-victory antics was Jurgen Klopp, who was far more measured in his celebrations.

Why was there no celebration after Jurgen Klopp’s game?

In recent seasons, a fiery post-match victory celebration has become the German manager’s trademark, as he usually gives the fans a few fierce punches after a big win, much like he did against Everton.

However, yesterday he was much more measured as he instead tried to turn up the volume in the crowd, a noise and support he will hopefully provide in their next game.

Fans and pundits were quick to explain why Klopp refused to celebrate his trademark, with many believing it was out of respect for Manchester United. After all, Liverpool had already humiliated their rivals on the pitch, Klopp needn’t elaborate further, although Liverpool fans probably disagreed. Perhaps Klopp is also trying to avoid another false dawn, wanting to carry over the performance and the euphoria of the evening into Saturday’s next game at Bournemouth.

If Liverpool are to claim top four and Champions League football, they must maintain the level they showed last night and their fans can undoubtedly play a big part in that.
