BREAKING NEWS: Furious Man United fans to protest against the Glazers at the club’s megastore at Old Trafford tomorrow, with the club’s eight-month takeover saga far from over

The Man United takeover process has been ongoing since November 2022

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the two favourites

Furious United fans plan to protest the Glazers amid delays

A group of Manchester United fans are planning a protest against the Glazers at the club’s megastore amid growing frustration over the long-running takeover saga.

The 1958s say they will be at the Old Trafford shop on Tuesday morning, to coincide with the launch of United’s new adidas kits.

Large swathes of the club’s support are furious with the Glazers, with the trial now in its eighth month since last November.

With seven weeks left until the new season, it remains to be seen whether Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani or British billionaire Sir Jim Ractliffe will be successful with their bids for United in what is essentially a two-man race.

The American owners, who have bought over £1bn from the club since their leveraged buyout in 2005, have yet to make a choice, although the deadline for final offers expires at the end of April. Since the start of the sale process in November last year, the two have already submitted several offers to take over the club.

The group will demonstrate outside the store amid growing anger, which could serve as a timely reminder of what the Glazers can expect if the outcome remains uncertain.

Originally, it was hoped that any acquisition – or investment would be completed before the transfer window opened.

While this doesn’t affect United’s level of spending, the lack of clarity over the club’s future doesn’t help those trying to strike deals.

United declined to comment but had previously said they recognize fans’ right to peaceful protest.

Shirt release day is one of the busiest of the year at Old Trafford, with many queuing from the early hours to get their hands on the new collection. United’s hugely unpopular American owners have sold more than £1 billion to the club since its leveraged buyout in 2005, and supporters have regularly protested.

Tuesday’s protest takes place outside the Old Trafford megastore and coincides with the launch of United’s new kits ahead of the 2023/24 season
