A number of Manchester United players returned to training on Monday morning as the club approached their first signing of the summer.

Antony and Lisandro Martinez were among the group of players who arrived at the club’s training ground in Carrington as they began preparations for the season under Erik ten Hag.

The two South Americans both missed last season’s finals through injury and assisted United in defeat by City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Martinez and Dean Henderson were photographed again on Monday morning after returning to training early last week. Henderson hasn’t played since January with a thigh sprain and underwent surgery last month. He could miss some of the pre-season build-up but should be fit for the start of the new season, although he expects to be a Nottingham Forest player when the Premier League starts.

United will play their first summer friendly against Leeds in Oslo next week, while preparations for their US tour will begin later in the month. Donny van de Beek was also seen returning to Carrington amid uncertainty over his future at the club. The Dutchman has struggled to make an impact at United and has been sidelined since he was injured in his first game of 2023.

Meanwhile, United Academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo has arrived at training camp ahead of what could be a pivotal pre-season for him.

John Murtough was present at Carrington on the morning Mason Mount underwent his medical ahead of his imminent move to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old is believed to have arrived at the United training complex in a van at around 8am as photographers photographed the vehicle carrying the England midfielder. United sources claim director of football Murtough ‘held the line and got a really good deal’ after the club finally agreed a deal to sign Mount from Chelsea last week.
