Manchester United refuse to rule out the sale of Scott McTominay due to interest from West Ham

Man Utd are open to transferring players this summer to help fund new signings

Scott McTominay is currently touring with Manchester United in the US

West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay but should offer at least £40m
.
McTominay, 26, started just 16 times for United last season and his position in midfield has come under pressure from 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, who once again excelled in his third successive pre-season start against ‘Arsenal.

West Ham are looking to replace Declan Rice, who was sold to Arsenal for £105m, and manager David Moyes is a fan of McTominay. McTominay’s agent Colin Murdock played under Moyes at Preston North End and the Scotsman’s partner lives in London.

United had no plans to sell McTominay for the time being, as Fred has been identified as the midfielder to make way for new signing Mason Mount, while manager Erik ten Hag appreciates McTominay’s versatility and local stature. However, McTominay is keen on regular playing time and it is clear he could assess his situation closer to the September 1 transfer deadline.

United won’t force McTominay, but a tempting offer of between £40m and £50m could lead them to consider selling the academy graduate as they could then sign a younger defensive midfielder.

McTominay is under contract with United until 2025 and is a regular for the Scotland national team, who top their Euro qualifying group ahead of Spain and Norway.
