Jadon Sancho’s camp sends new message to Erik ten Hag as Man United transfer preference revealed
Sancho, 23, accused the Dutchman of scapegoating him and also suggested that there were other reasons behind his exit from the United squad that he would not expand on.
Ten Hag told reporters that Sancho’s training level was the reason behind him not choosing the winger for the squad to face Arsenal at the start of last month. He added: “You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the frontline, so for this game, he was not selected.”
However, that message was negatively received by Sancho, who posted his fierce response on social media within an hour of full-time. He was offered time to apologise to his manager in private before he was eventually banished from the squad and the first-team training facilities at Carrington when he refused days later.
Over a month later, amidst an injury crisis at Old Trafford, Sancho is still yet to apologise. Many teammates have urged him to squash any problems with the manager so that he can find himself in the squad again but he has so far refused.
Ten Hag is clearly not willing to back down on his demands for an apology from Sancho in front of the squad. However, the latest reports from Standard Sport have stated that Sancho’s camp have communicated that he has ‘no intention’ of conforming to the demands of the United boss.
This has created an unstable situation that seems like it must have some sort of resolution in January when the mid-season transfer window opens.
The aforementioned report added that Juventus and former club Borussia Dortmund have contacted the winger’s representatives about a potential transfer, with both loan and permanent deals being considered as options.
Sancho, who moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021, is said to be open to departing Old Trafford, however, he would prefer a loan move for the rest of the season. Amidst the poor form at the club, the possibility of Ten Hag leaving the club could hand him a lifeline under a different coach.
Ten Hag is reportedly happy to let Sancho leave the club as he continues a hard-lined approach at United which saw Cristiano Ronaldo exit after he criticised the manager and various other elements of the club, including the Glazer ownership and teammates, in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
The Dutch boss has the backing of the senior staff at the club and whilst Sir Jim Ratcliffe could look to make changes at the top end of the footballing department if he comes into the club, it is believed that Ten Hag would be safe after the British billionaire’s pending 25 per cent investment into United.
