Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle get set to pay over €90 million for Barcelona key player

Three of the biggest teams in the Premier League are prepared to match Barcelona’s €90 million asking price for star defender Ronald Araujo. Ronald Araujo of Barcelona is available for at least three major Premier League teams to sign, according to Fichajes, for €90 million. The Uruguayan defender may decide to quit the Blaugrana since, based on rumors, his circumstances at the team are precarious and the Catalan powerhouses want high-profile sales.

Three teams are prepared to spend to acquire Ronald Araujo

Manchester United, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are among the teams who are eager to fork out a large sum to get their hands on Ronald Araujo. The Barcelona defender’s time at the club has been called into question as his future remains unresolved, with the Catalans keen on making a big sale.

While Barcelona are not intent on losing many of its top performers, they might be willing to sanction the sale of either Jules Kounde or Araujo in the current window. The Uruguayan international will cost at least €90 million, as per the Catalan side, with three Premier League giants willing to pay up.

Manchester United, who are in the market for top-notch central defenders, might view Araujo as a big target. Reports stated that the Red Devils are not pursuing the Uruguayan. But should Barcelona make him available, they will be willing to pay the €90 million needed to sign him.

Newcastle United are also reportedly keen on Ronald Araujo, as Eddie Howe wants a new option to his central defence. While the club owners have humongous cash resources, the Magpies are not in a strong p[position to spend that due to PSR concerns, which casts doubts over their ability to pay for Araujo.

Manchester City also in the Araujo race

Manchester City do not particularly need a new central defender, although they might take up the market opportunity over Araujo. The Premier League champions have kept tabs on the Uruguayan and are in a strong position to pay the €90 million that Barcelona will demand.

Araujo’s situation in Catalonia remains complicated as he has not penned an extension to his current contract, which expires in 2026. Barcelona will know that selling the defender next summer would diminish his value. So, they might cash in on him this time around.
