“Agreement getting closer”: Mason Greenwood has made a startling official offer to Manchester United- Report
According to reports, Olympique Marseille is making an attempt to capture Mason Greenwood from Manchester United. Following the appointment of Roberto de Zerbi as their new manager, the Ligue 1 team has made the striker their top priority this summer. Manchester United’s attacker is the subject of an official bid from Marseille, according to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. Currently, negotiations are taking on between the two clubs.
The Italian journalist claimed that the Red Devils were open to a loan with an obligation to buy option, but want a sell-on clause added to Greenwood’s contract. He posted on X:
“Understand Olympique Marseille have sent formal bid to Manchester United for Mason Greenwood! Talks underway between the two clubs, Greenwood’s still main target with agreement getting closer. Man United open to loan with obligation to buy, sell-on clause included.”
Apart from Marseille, several other clubs have also shown interest in signing Greenwood. Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Napoli reportedly made enquires while Valencia had a bid rejected.
Manchester United had not made a final decision on Mason Greenwood
Sir Jim Ratcliffe had left the doors open for Mason Greenwood when he took over at Manchester United. He admitted that the final decision was yet to be made on the Englishman, but the forward now seems to be on his way out.
“He’s a Manchester United footballer so we are in charge of football. So the answer is yes, we have to make decisions. There is no decision that’s been made. The process will be: understand the facts not the hype and then try and come to fair decision on the basis of values which is basically is he a good guy or not, and answer could he play sincerely for Manchester United well and would we be comfortable with it and would the fans be comfortable with it.”
Greenwood spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Getafe and they too were said to be interested in keeping him. However, they were reportedly priced out of the deal after talks with Manchester United.
