“Bruno Fernandes has ordered me to join Man United…He’s someone I can’t dispute, honestly joining Man United is now inevitable”: Euro 2024 best player so far has confirmed Bruno Fernandes asked him to join Man United this summer

Sporting star Morten Hjulmand has distanced himself from speculation that he could be set for a high-profile summer move, insisting he already plays for a ‘very big team’.

Hjulmand enjoyed an excellent debut season in Portugal after swapping Lecce for Sporting last summer, shining at the base of Ruben Amorim’s midfield to help steer the club to a 20th league title.

The 24-year-old made 49 appearances in all competitions across the 2023/24 campaign, providing three goals and two assists, and the Dane’s performances have made him a fan favourite in Lisbon, with Amorim ready to make the player part of Sporting’s leadership group.

However, Hjulmand’s outstanding displays have not gone unnoticed among some of Europe’s top clubs and the midfielder has been open with his dream of one day playing in the Premier League.

Manchester United have reportedly been closely monitoring Hjulmand, with the Red Devils on the hunt for midfield reinforcements this summer, while Tottenham have also been credited with a strong interest in the Denmark international.

But it appears Denmark’s Euro 2024 campaign has Hjulmand’s full focus and the ex-Lecce man and is not even considering a move away from Sporting, with his country battling it out in with England, Serbia and Slovenia in Group C.

‘The transfer market? But I’m already playing for a very big team,’ Hjulmand told A Bola when asked whether an impressive tournament in Germany could attract potential suitors in the wake of Denmark’s 1-1 draw with Slovenia.

Hjulmand stressed that his only ‘focus’ for the time being was helping Denmark achieve victory over England later this week.

Asked if he is likely to remain at Sporting, Hjulmand replied: ‘Right now I’m focused on the national team. We will try to get three points on Thursday.

‘We will talk about this after those games.’

While Sporting are gearing up for a summer of comings and goings, Hjulmand is confident he and the team will be ‘ready’ for next season, irrespective of the money they spend on new recruits.

‘I think the team we have now is very strong, but that’s a question for the Sporting director, not for me,’ he continued.

‘I’m focused on the national team now, then I’ll be ready for a new season at Sporting.’

Hjulmand’s eye-catching debut season with Sporting caught the eye of current Manchester United captain – and former Sporting skipper – Fernandes, who raved about the midfielder’s burgeoning potential back in March.

‘I love Sporting’s midfield. I love [Hidemasa] Morita and Hjulmand,’ Fernandes said at the time.

‘They’re two vital players in Sporting’s game, especially when they have to have more of the ball and be more tactically organised.’

Man United announce the signing of centre-back after imminent agreement

Jonny Evans has agreed a new one-year contract at Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed an announcement on the 36-year-old’s future is imminent with his current deal set to expire at the end of this month.

Contract talks between United and the veteran defender have been positive and all signs now point to a renewal.

Evans was a surprise signing for the Red Devils last summer (2023) but played a key role after a wave of defensive injuries.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that manager Erik ten Hag is a “huge fan” of the Northern Irishman and has given the green light to what is an unexpected extension given the player’s age.

Evans agrees new Man United deal – Ten Hag is a ‘huge fan’

One of the first tasks for Ten Hag after confirming he will stay on as boss at Old Trafford will be to tie Evans down to a renewed contract – with his role in the dressing room believed to be a key factor in the decision.

The centre-back made 30 appearances in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 17 of those outings.

Evans came through the academy system at United and made 198 appearances in his first spell at the club before leaving for West Brom in 2015.

Ten Hag and his recruitment staff are looking to strengthen elsewhere in defensive areas with Raphael Varane departing this month.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 June) that Man United are planning to submit a new offer for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite this week.

An initial bid of around £35million plus add-ons was rejected by Everton, who are holding out for a valuation of around £80million for the 21-year-old.

Man United completes the first summer transfer signing as the French defender signs four-years contract

Manchester United appear to be one step closer to signing Lille centre-back Leny Yoro this summer.

Following Raphael Varane’s departure from the club at the end of the season coupled with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez’s injury setbacks and Jonny Evans’ advanced age, Erik ten Hag is in desperate need of some young, rising talent at the back. Yoro looks to be the right fit for the role.

Just 18 years of age, the French defender truly showed his worth in what was only his second full season as a professional in Lille’s first team.

Playing 32 Ligue 1 matches and starting 30, Yoro won 63% of his total duels, making good use of his 190cm height to win 65% of his aerial duels. He also proved highly effective on the ball, with a remarkable 80% dribbling while achieving 92% passing accuracy. (Sofascore)

He played a massive role as Lille secured 13 clean sheets, propelling them to a fourth-place finish and securing a coveted spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

As discussed by The Peoples Person, United have taken an active interest in Yoro. Still, they are not the only ones who have recognised his talents, with Liverpool and Real Madrid also named as interested parties.

Yesterday, it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain held talks with Lille to discuss a potential move for Yoro.

While the race for the teenage talent certainly appears to be heating up, United have received a major boost that could swing the contest in their favour.

Mundo Deportivo reported that Lille have rejected a €50 million bid from Liverpool for the centre-back.

Furthermore, the club reportedly requested a €60 million opening bid for the player, something United have already come close to with their first bid.

Given that United reportedly have a £140 million war chest for the summer transfer window, Yoro’s transfer is well within the realms of possibility even before United are able to make any sales.

Although United may have to spend more in order to edge out competing offers, Yoro will no doubt be worth the fight given his undoubted talent and young age which could enable him to build a promising future at United for years to come.

Personal terms agreed: Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United has agree terms with £173,000 a week man

As per reports, Man United are close to agreeing fresh terms with manager, Erik ten Hag, whose current deal has a year left.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch manager is on the verge of getting a new deal at Old Trafford.

The transfer expert has stated:

“A new contract extension for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United is getting really close. Everything is going very well in the negotiations between Ten Hag and Man Utd, and they hope to make it happen as soon as possible”

The former Ajax coach signed a three year deal with the Red Devils when he joined two years back and currently, he takes home a salary of around £173,000 a week, £9 million a year.

In his first season with Man Utd, Ten Hag won the League Cup, reached the final of the FA Cup and got us back into the UEFA Champions League.

Last season, he helped United win the FA Cup but in all other competitions, the performances were extremely poor.

We finished 8th in the Premier League, were bottom of the Champions League group and will not be playing the continent’s top competition next season.

Nevertheless, after a considerable amount of time, the Man Utd management has decided to hold on to Ten Hag.

Man Utd now prepare £50.8million offer to meet the clause for signing

Man Utd have been preparing an offer for Goncalo Inacio for quite some time and as per reports, they are expected to meet the valuation of the release clause of £50.8million.

At the start of this month, stories in Portugal indicated that the Old Trafford side are best positioned to sign the defender and a readying a bid.

Now, as per a story published by A Bola yesterday, Man Utd are preparing an offer of £50.8million (60 million euros), the value of the release clause, to finally sign Inacio.

The 22-year-old star is highly coveted in the transfer market and could end up leaving Sporting CP in the summer window.

The media outlet claim the Lions are looking at defensive reinforcements because apart from Inacio, even Ivorian center half, Ousmane Diomande, is linked with a move away from the club.

Man Utd are pushing hard to reinforce their leaky backline for the next campaign and have already agreed a contract with Branthwaite.

However, meeting the high valuation set by Everton is currently a big obstacle for Jim Ratcliffe, who does not want to pay over the odds.

As compared to the English center back, Inacio is much more experienced and has won multiple major titles.

Moreover, unlike Branthwaite, the Portuguese star is part of the national team squad at the European Championships and will likely feature in the opening game next week.
