Continuous devaluation of fallen star seriously worries Man United management despite new demand ‘he needs to leave the club’

New report now confirms that Harry Maguire is increasingly losing value, Manchester United is warned by an observer wondering why he is still in the England team.

Maguire started for England in their Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine on Saturday. However, his situation at club level in recent months has been bleak. Indeed, he has only appeared once as a substitute for Man Utd this season.

When the summer transfer window opened, Man Utd reached an agreement in principle to sell Maguire to West Ham. Alas, various factors delayed the deal until it was canceled and could not be revived.

Why Maguire remains in the England team has become a major topic of debate amid his deteriorating situation at Old Trafford. The person who believes that Gareth Southgate should give other players a chance is former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who told Man Utd that Maguire is “underestimating himself” and “needs to leave” for the sake of your benefit.

Lennon told Sky Sports:
“Harry always underestimates himself – every week, every month he plays less and less.

“You need those minutes on the field. The other thing is he’s under more scrutiny than anyone else because there’s a possibility he’s a pet – he’s Southgate’s favourite. And there’s an argument for that.

“But I’ve been watching Harry for the past 18 months and he hasn’t had enough game time. That’s not enough. I don’t know how Gareth can still justify selecting him in the team, above all else, and choosing him over other players. “For the sake of Harry and his career, he needs to go out and play regular first-team football at the highest possible level, as it looks like he won’t get much game time in the first team. Manchester United.”

Maguire is still being followed

Lennon continued:
“He was constantly being watched. If he comes in and makes a mistake, he will be in the spotlight again, he will have to take all that criticism. I just think if he was out for like six weeks or something, I could understand that.

“But it’s probably been 10, 12, 18 months – I haven’t played regularly for Manchester United while these players are all playing regularly for teams in the Premier League, Serie A or teams at the top level of the Premier League. club.”

Maguire was removed from the Man Utd captaincy earlier this summer and is not considered a regular starter at centre-back due to Erik ten Hag’s preference for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

In theory, this will be a crucial season for him ahead of Euro 2024, but his status in Southgate’s England squad still looks fairly stable. However, a player only has one career and at the age of 30, there will come a time when Maguire will have to question whether he has achieved as much in his career as he wanted.
