Manchester United desperately need to address their poor form, with Chris Sutton believing the problem lies with their midfield lacking “leg and dynamism”.

Chris Sutton believes the biggest problem facing Manchester United this season is a lack of mobility in midfield.

United’s 3-4 defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday was their fourth in five matches and third in a row in all competitions. This comes after two-goal defeats to Tottenham, Arsenal and Brighton in the Premier League.

While it would be too early to call this a crisis for United – who are without 11 first-team players for the trip to the Allianz Arena – it is clear that United’s on-field unrest could derail the season. Their tournament was completely derailed before it was over. while going.

The loss of Fred this summer – the Brazilian joined Turkish club Fenerbahce – has taken the energy out of United’s midfield, with two summer additions to the position currently sidelined as they are part of the club’s long list of injured players along with promising youngster Kobbie Mainoo. Mason Mount only played two matches before being injured while Sofyan Amrabat is yet to make his debut after joining Fiorentina on loan. Midfield duo Casemiro and Christian Eriksen often have their physical strength exposed in matches.

Expert Sutton identified this as the main problem for owner Erik ten Hag, saying in the Letter:
“I think it’s a problem area for Manchester United, and I say problem area, but the biggest problem for Manchester United is the midfield area. I just don’t think they have enough legs and dynamism.

Sutton continued to highlight United’s limitations:
“Look at the other top teams doing that and that’s their biggest problem. I think we discussed this on Monday, right? Manchester United can really only play counter-attacking defense and that is their problem.

The absences of Mount, Mainoo and Amrabat add to the tense nature of United’s squad, with three of their first-choice starting XI also unavailable. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane are all missing, along with reinforcements Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire. Strikers Antony and Jadon Sancho are both forced to be absent while Amad is currently unable to play due to injury.

United face a trip to Burnley on Saturday night before facing a double header at home to Crystal Palace – in the EFL Cup and Premier League – before continuing their Champions League campaign with the clash at home against Galatasaray.
