Erik ten Hag talks about whether Man United will make any more signings this summer

Ten Hag was asked whether United would add to their depth before the window closes, his answer was quite vague.

‘We need to score goals always’

Interestingly, ten Hag seemed to sidestep the question asked by Shamoon Hafez of BBC Sport about whether United could enter the transfer market and add some players into the squad.

“It’s not about adding to the team, we have to score goals,” Ten Hag said.

United have added Rasmus Hojlund to their frontline but the Danish forward has a minor back injury so has not featured at all yet since his big-money move.

United not only need more firepower up-front but are crying out for another midfielder as the current midfield three are struggling to impose themselves in the opening two games.

The clear target

It’s fair to say the obvious target for the midfield conundrum is Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan midfielder is seemingly not closer to joining the club.

The 26-year-old would be the ideal midfield candidate with Amrabat probably lining up alongside Casemiro and this would add the defensive steel that United are crying out for.

With Mason Mount struggling in the number 8 role, Amrabat would be in the midfield role and Mount may be shifted out wide.

Changing the former Chelsea midfielder’s role wouldn’t exactly be the best indictment on the English midfielder who United decided to invest £55 million into.
