‘He has to change’ – Ryan Gravenberch sends Bayern Munich a clear transfer request amid Liverpool’s left

Liverpool still linked over Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch’s move, with the former Ajax star now discussing his future in Germany

The transfer window isn’t open yet and Liverpool’s attention is already starting to shift towards the summer.

The midfield is the area of the team that has been in the news when it comes to where Liverpool need to step up in the transfer market. As a result, numerous players have been linked with a move to Anfield.

One of them is Ryan Gravenberch. The Bayern Munich midfielder hasn’t played much since he finalized a $25m deal with Ajax last summer. It’s well known that Liverpool’s number one target this summer was Jude Bellingham until a few weeks ago. Now the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is out of the question for the Reds after the club pulled out of the race to sign the 19-year-old.

Today, other names are associated with Liverpool and Gravenberch is one of them. But whether the rumors are true remains to be seen.

The transfer window isn’t even open yet and Liverpool’s attention is already starting to shift to the summer.

The midfield has been the area of the team that has made headlines about where Liverpool need to strengthen in the transfer market. As a result, numerous players have been linked with a move to Anfield.

One of them is Ryan Gravenberch. The Bayern Munich midfielder hasn’t played much since signing a $25m (£20m/€22.5m) deal with Ajax last summer.

It is common knowledge that Jude Bellingham has been Liverpool’s main focus this summer, up until a few weeks ago. Now the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is no longer being considered by the Reds after the club withdrew from the bid to sign the 19-year-old. Now other names are being linked to Liverpool, and Gravenberch is one of them. But whether there is any truth to the rumors remains to be seen.

While it’s pure speculation right now, there’s plenty for the media to question Gravenberch about his future. The latest comes in the form of an interview from her home country with Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

Gravenberch doesn’t hide his frustrations because he doesn’t have as much time as he would like to play. The 20-year-old made 28 appearances in all competitions for Bayern, but only four of those saw him start.

When asked by VI about the speculation linking him to a move to Liverpool, Gravenberch said “I’m waiting”.

Gravenberch continued: “At first, of course, I had to get used to it here. A new environment. Everything goes much faster, sometimes training sessions felt like just competitions.

It’s the European top, you can’t miss a moment. But I feel like the adjustment has been behind me for a while.

“Training and playing at the highest level for a year is beautiful and instructive. Although it is played, it is mainly practiced.

“That has to change next season, so I really want to play every week again.

“I haven’t spoken to the club management yet, so wait and see what happens. But it is clear that this role does not meet my expectations.

Liverpool’s need for a midfield overhaul seems pretty obvious at this point. Up to four players could leave this area of the pitch this summer, so it’s no surprise the midfielders are being linked with a move towards the end of the season.

Roberto Firmino has already been confirmed to leave the club when his contract expires this summer. In terms of midfielders, however, James Milner, Naby Keïta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also due to expire at the end of the season, while Arthur Melo will return to Juventus after his loan spell at Anfield.

If Gravenberch moved to Liverpool, he would certainly be hoping for a lot more playing time than he currently gets in Germany.
