Jude Bellingham admits he still gets goosebumps at the thought of playing for Real Madrid in the Champions League after scoring the winning goal in stoppage time.
On Wednesday, the 20-year-old midfielder scored the winner in the 96th minute as Madrid won their first Champions League match of the season against Union Berlin 1-0. Bellingham’s strike – a strike from a yard out following an opportunistic clearance – sparked wild celebrations inside the Santiago Bernabeu.

The England international – who the White Devils signed from Borussia Dortmund for £88.5m in the summer – has now scored six goals in his first six appearances for the club.
“Plus,” Bellingham replied when asked after the match whether playing for Real Madrid at the Bernabeu was as special as he expected.
“I get goosebumps talking about it now. I’m so grateful to be in this club. I talk about the players, the staff and the mentality and qualities they have.

“But there is also the other side of the coin, which is the fans. When you get to the stadium, thousands of people gather outside just to catch a glimpse of [the team’s] bus. At the match, they were there before the warm-up. “You don’t really understand the scale of this club until you play for them, and now I have this honor, I will always wear it [the shirt] with pride.”

“I’m not going to lie, I’d rather keep scoring goals over 90 minutes than in the 15th minute, although that might ease my heart and the fans’ hearts a little,” Bellingham said of his scoring habits. My desk is late.
“That is the history of the club. I’m new to the club but I’ve had a TV since I was a kid. I don’t remember watching the entire Madrid comeback one year, where I thought there was no chance and it was impossible.

“When you are around these players every day, who have been part of these wins in the past, you will feel it and it will affect you. And I think if you don’t have it, they will sniff you out.
Real Madrid’s next Champions League match will be in Naples on Tuesday 3 October.
