Liverpool injury latest as three players miss Forest and reported double absenteeism

Liverpool injury news: Latest updates ahead of Nottingham Forest. With Luis Díaz and Thiago Alcântara recently returned, the squad appear to be in good shape.

Liverpool may have beaten Leeds United by six to a goal on Monday night, but the Reds were there before thicapitalize on the potential boost a big win can provide.

With Champions League places still within reach, Liverpool cannot afford to do it again this time. Jurgen Klopp’s side will almost certainly need maximum points in their last eight games and even that might not be enough to finish in the top four.

After being beaten by Nottingham Forest in the second leg, Liverpool won’t take Steve Cooper’s side lightly but should have more than enough to claim victory on home soil. Liverpool fans will be hoping for another glimpse of Luis Díaz after the Colombian returns after six months on the sidelines, while Thiago Alcântara will hope he has done enough to earn a departure despite Curtis Jones having impressed lately.

Here at Liverpool.com we try to bring you up to date with the latest injury news after every game. Here’s what it looks like ahead of Nottingham Forest, with Klopp’s press conference on Friday afternoon.
Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez

Ibrahima Konaté and Joe Gomez, who were absent from the final round of training footage, both followed individual training programs rather than being part of the main group, according to ECHO.

However, Díaz fully participated in the session and could feature again on Saturday, most likely again on the bench as he continues to relax. Naby Keita

After Naby Keïta picked up a muscle problem during the international break, it remains to be seen whether Naby Keïta will return to Liverpool before leaving on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

“We’ll see how long it takes, but obviously the season isn’t too long anymore,” Klopp said late last month. “There’s a chance Naby will come back, but we’ll have to wait a bit.”

It has been known for some time that Stefan Bajčetić and Calvin Ramsay would be out for the rest of the season as they both suffered season-ending injuries.

Both will be back for the summer, where a big pre-season awaits the pair (and the rest of the Liverpool squad) ahead of 2023/24 where both hope to be key players for the Reds.

Firmino injury, Trent position and more – Jurgen Klopp pre-Forest press conference

Jurgen Klopp speaks to the media ahead of Saturday afternoon’s meeting between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. What does the manager have in store for us this time?

Klopp will take questions from reporters at the Reds’ AXA training center at 1.30pm (BST). You can follow and watch it in full here on This Is Anfield.

Klopp on Elliot:

“He trains exceptionally (and) Fabio Carvalho trains exceptionally.

“The hardest thing is to leave 5 or 6 of the guys (in the team) out. Harvey is about to start again. “The way he (Elliott) handles it (not initiating it) is role-playing mode. It’s amazing. The character he’s showing is great.”

Klopp on Nunez’s location:

“He is a centre-forward who plays on the left when he plays on the left.

“It’s about fine-tuning, that’s what we do. But after this season there will be another season – it’s already on my mind.” “We learned a lot, some things we didn’t want to learn. It can act both positions, 100%and both positions play absolutely well.

“He has to learn English, we cannot use 4 languages in training sessions.”

Klopp on nunez:

“I think it goes well with the situation. Darwin is not always in order (to be excluded), but it’s okay, we have to face the situation. If we have 5, 6 options in advance, we have to do this decides things. “He came (against Leeds) and was exceptional. We need him. We have 5 games in 2 weeks, Darwin will start for sure.”

Klopp on Nunez:

“Darwin offers another option. He is still adapting. His English is not excellent. How can a striker shine when the whole team is struggling? This is a long-term project.”

More from Klopp on Trent’s whereabouts:

“It’s much more about how we sort it out around [him], who Trent can fill the position. There are moments where we lose the ball, we have a different formation – where is Robbo, Virgil, at these moments.”

“If we do it tomorrow, we’ll see.

“There’s potential to play in this position, that’s always been clear. “We’ll see where it takes us.”

Klopp on Salah – 1 more goal for 6th place in the LFC top scorer list:

“Last week when I heard the most left-footed goals in Premier League history, it’s insane. When I see the names below, Fowler, Gigs, Van Persie, PL greats. Sometimes you don’t value things in life as much as that you should, but we do!

“Mo loves these things and will refill the tank before the game.”

Klopp on Bos:

“They had a super spell at the end of last year but then it didn’t work out for them. But the quality they have is evident and if we didn’t respect that quality we would be on the wrong side.”

Klopp:

“Everyone will play, but the ticket will be the desire to get the ball back. Especially against deep defenders, otherwise we’ll have to face counter-attacks. “It’s a big part of the decision-making [in team selection].”

Klopp on choosing his forwards:

“The ticket for this team will certainly be counter-pressing.

Klopp on injuries:

“Bobby is definitely out tomorrow. And two games next week are impossible. Then we’ll have to see.”

Klopp on Trent’s stance:

“We’ll see. It suits him very well at the moment. It’s a challenge for everyone else to cover the spaces when we lose the ball.

“He’s not set in stone, he can play in different ways. The way he’s played the last 2 games has been really good.”

Klopp:

“Whatever we can do this season, the only thing that gives us any chance is to win loads of games (eight left). All our attention is on Nottingham.”

Klopp:

“It was a very stable performance (against Leeds), and we have to build on that. I can’t guarantee any results, but we have to guarantee levels of performance, that’s what we have to do now.”

Beat some big wins… then lose

“We’ve played an average season so far. Having some of the highest results in the club’s history is absolutely strange.

“I said after the game against Leeds that it was the best game we’ve played this season.”
