Liverpool make unique promise to Bellingham as Klopp triumphs to secure historic coup
Liverpool are “optimistic” they will be signing Jude Bellingham with talks “already underway”, and a Sky Sports reporter has claimed Jurgen Klopp will offer the England ace something incredibly unique.
The Reds’ biggest problem this season is no secret at all. A lack of drive, determination, energy and legs in midfield hamper Jurgen Klopp’s side wherever they go.
Liverpool have gone from being the hardest team to play against to one of the easiest. This statement is really reflected in the fact that Liverpool have scored very highly in the ‘big odds against’ category this season.
The inability – or unwillingness – of the current midfield to apply pressure does two things. Firstly, they do not win the ball back as quickly and therefore cannot give their attackers quick transition opportunities.
Secondly, it gives opposing playmakers time and space on the ball to exploit the top line of defence.
Liverpool are fully aware of their shortcomings, even if new signings aren’t expected until the summer. Liverpool dare the double kick in midfield
A double header continues to gain traction of late, with Wolves’ Matheus Nunes and Jude Bellingham both linked from Dortmund.
On Thursday, CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs provided a hugely encouraging update on Nunes, while BILD TV host Valentina Maceri did the same for Bellingham 24 hours earlier.
The 19-year-old England ace is the Reds’ main target, although he could cost well over £100million.
Liverpool are believed to have laid the groundwork for a move, although competition from Man City and Real Madrid in particular will continue to be stiff.

The Reds’ biggest problem this season is by no means a secret. A lack of drive, determination, energy and legs in midfield hamper Jurgen Klopp’s side everywhere they turn.
Liverpool went from being the toughest team to being one of the easiest. In fact, that statement is reflected in Liverpool being remarkably high in the big chances conceded category this season.

Liverpool look like a coup in midfield
A double whammy has continued to gain momentum of late, with Wolves’ Matheus Nunes and Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham both linked.
CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs provided a very encouraging update on Nunes Thursday, while BILD TV host Valentina Maceri did the same for Bellingham 24 hours earlier. The 19-year-old England player is the Reds’ main target, despite costing more than £100m.
Liverpool are believed to have laid most of the groundwork for a move, although competition will still be fierce from Man City and Real Madrid in particular.
Now speaking to Sky Sports News, journalist Kaveh Solhekol quoted his colleagues in Germany as he explained Liverpool’s optimism.
Klopp’s team has reportedly held talks about the move in one form or another, though he acknowledged that Klopp hasn’t spoken to Bellingham personally.
Bellingham could be the next Gerrard
Either way, Liverpool are said to be ready to push the boat towards Bellingham by promising him the chance to become “the new Steven Gerrard”. “Sky Germany reports that Liverpool are optimistic about signing Jude Bellingham this summer,” Solhekol said.
They say talks have taken place but most importantly, the player hasn’t spoken to Jurgen Klopp.
“No official offer has yet been made by Liverpool but Liverpool are offering him the opportunity to become the new Steven Gerrard, according to Sky Germany.
“We know that many clubs are potentially interested in signing him this summer – Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea, Man City.
“But Sky Germany said this afternoon that Liverpool are optimistic about signing him this summer and talks have already taken place.”
What exactly it means to make Bellingham the ‘new Gerrard’ is unclear, although more broadly it could mean he quickly becomes the most important man in midfield.
It could also mean Bellingham will receive the captain’s armband despite his young age.
Jordan Henderson is the current pick and James Milner is vice-captain. However, Milner rarely plays these days and is out of contract at the end of the season. Henderson, meanwhile, isn’t the regular starter he once was and could be the one dropping Bellingham’s panels anyway.
Gerrard succeeded Sami Hyypia as Reds skipper in 2003, aged just 23. One of Bellingham’s hallmarks is his leadership which emerged during interviews and also with England in Qatar.
Macera van Bild acknowledged that if Bellingham moves for the money, Liverpool are likely to be left empty-handed.
However, Ben Jacobs has always stressed that money will not be the main driver for Bellingham and it seems Liverpool are willing to do anything to lure Bellingham away to Anfield from the financial aspect of the deal.

Chelsea preparing their game changer midfielder ahead of it’s match against Liverpool
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been seen in training for the first time since suffering a serious hamstring injury in October which ruled him out of the World Cup.
Graham Potter’s side take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime, with both sides having been badly underperforming in the Premier League this season.
Kante has been an integral part of the Chelsea squad since arriving from Leicester in 2016, winning the Premier League and Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The French world champions have missed just one game against Liverpool in their entire Premier League career, one game after the Reds have already won the league title.
Kante, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge this summer, has worked individually at Cobham and it remains to be seen if he is fit enough to travel to Anfield for the weekend. If used by Potter, Kante will certainly help put a 10th-placed Chelsea side into the game on a par with Liverpool. Both teams will be desperately looking for three points on Saturday.
