Liverpool refuses to budge on Sadio Mane’s price

Liverpool has informed Sadio Mane and Bayern Munich that unless their asking price is fulfilled, they will hold onto the Senegalese forward.

Bundesliga winners Liverpool has previously turned down two official offers from Bayern for Mane, the second of which could have cost up to £30 million.

Mane, whose contract at Anfield expires in 2023, has already reached an agreement on a three-year initial deal with Bayern that does include a potential extension.

Mane’s Bayern contract is expected to be worth roughly £350,000 per week, which is far more than what Liverpool was willing to offer him.

There is a difference in valuation between the two clubs, as 90min hears that Liverpool considers the proposals that have been made so far to be derisory and wants a deal worth at least £40m with additional add-ons.

Mane did draw interest from Italian and Spanish clubs as well, but he has made it clear to Liverpool that Bayern Munich is the only club he wants to join. Liverpool has informed him that he can only transfer if their asking price is reached.

Although there is still a lot of work to be done, especially on Bayern’s end to obtain Mane’s signature, sources at both clubs are still ‘confident’ that the transaction will go through.

Despite the addition of Darwin Nunez, 90min is aware that Liverpool is prepared to accept Mane back into their lineup for the upcoming season if Bayern is unwilling to satisfy their expectations.

If that were to occur, Jurgen Klopp would be in possession of Mane, Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino in addition to intriguing young forward Fabio Carvalho, who has signed from recently promoted Fulham.
