Liverpool vs Wolves LIVE – score, goals and commentary stream

Live squad news, line-ups, TV channel, commentary stream, latest Anfield score and goal as Liverpool take on Wolves in the Premier League

Anfield expects Liverpool to host Wolves in the Premier League.

The Reds are looking to maintain their unbeaten run in the league after extending it to three games following a goalless draw at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

It was Alisson’s third consecutive clean sheet in England’s top flight and Liverpool came close to winning thanks to Mohamed Salah, who shook the bar, and Cody Gakpo.

Wolves travel to Merseyside on Wednesday to complete a league double against Jurgen Klopp’s side. Last month, Julen Lopetegui’s men inflicted an embarrassing defeat on Liverpool when they lost 3-0 at Molineux. Ibrahima Konate is in contention for his first start since the FA Cup defeat at Brighton, while Darwin Nunez could return after missing Saturday’s tie at Palace with a shoulder injury. Diogo Jota could make back-to-back starts after returning to the lineup for the first time since his last October timeout.

Starting at 8pm, Ian Doyle, Paul Gorst and Theo Squires are on L4 to provide live updates on the action, bringing team news, analysis and reactions

Liverpool team news

XI: Alison; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Bajcetic, Elliott; Salah, Jota, Nunez.

XI: Sa, Semedo, Dawson, Kilman, Bueno, Lemina, Neves, Nunes, Moutinho, Jimenez, Sarabia.

Subs: Bentley, Ait-Nouri, Collins, Neto, Podence, Jonny, D.Costa, J.Gomes, Traore. Unfortunate wolves

The Wolves are not happy when Ait-Nouri is punished for taking down Konate after feeding him nutmeg. It was a phallus, but a beautiful piece of craftsmanship nonetheless

Jota versus Dawson

Craig Dawson tackled Jota just near the halfway line. The Liverpool forward felt it, the referee said no foul.

Good start

Good start when Alexander-Arnold scores a goal. Blocked by Dawson. I don’t know if it was on target.

BEGIN

The second half is here at Anfield!

Fabinho’s appreciation

Credit to Fabinho, he looked more like himself in that first half.

Constantly collecting the ball in midfield, Harvey Elliott’s two chances actually come from the Brazilian. Let’s hope he holds up.

The Liverpool midfielder would certainly look a whole lot stronger if he could return to something resembling his best. We need a step forward compared to Liverpool

Well, it’s not as bad as the Palace game, but it’s doing well.

Liverpool looked brighter and more energetic, especially in midfield, but they are still not moving up front.

Wolves had some openings early on as the Reds looked to fix themselves, but haven’t created much since

Both teams will be happy enough, but Klopp knows his players will need to step up in quality in the second half.

Half time evaluations

Alisson Becker6

Good save from Moutinho at the start, but part of the pass from behind him was too risky.

Trent Alexander Arnold 7

I have tried to release Salah where possible and well distributed but he could have used a little help defensively at times. Ibrahima Konat 6

Showed physical strength at times and just kept things in his possession.

Virgil van Dijk6

Quite solid and a good block, Jimenez denied in the first half.

Kostas Tsimikas 6

Defensively, he stuck to his task, but set pieces were among his best.

Fabian 7

In the first half much more often in front and put the wolves under pressure. A shot was blocked but passed early from a great position. Harvey Elliot 6

Lots of effort and energy, but not all of his passes hit the mark. Missed a big chance when he headed wide and then forced a decent save from Sa.

Stefan Bajcetic7

Started very strong and a great tackle to deny Nunes and he doesn’t lack confidence. Reserve.

Mohammad Salah 6

Was watched very closely by the Wolves defense but still managed to squirm into dangerous positions.

Diogo Jota6

Almost connected with a cross from Salah and presses helped harass the Wolves defence. Darwin Nunez 6

Not as explosive as he was at halftime, but did a good job defensively

HT: Liverpool 0-0 Wolves

In the first half it’s not as bad as the match against Palace on Saturday.

Double substitution of Liverpool

Firmino and Milner for Nunez and Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool 2-0 after 89 minutes.

Brilliant game

It’s a brilliant goal from Liverpool.

Good game by Tsimikas. Selected by Alisson, he played a quick 1-2 with Gakpo on the halfway line, leaving everyone for dead on the left and cutting in for Salah.

Impressive performance from the Greek tonight.

Change to Liverpool

Henderson for Bajcetic. Liverpool 2-0 after 79 minutes.

OBJECTIVE! Liverpool 1-0 Wolves (Nunez)

1-0! Nunz!

20 for Mo Salah

Goal no. 20 of the season for Salah who pushes a cross from Tsimikas.

Ovation

Cody Gakpo for Jota. A standing ovation for the number 20 on his first start at Anfield since 16 October.

Change to Liverpool

Gakpo for Jota. Liverpool 1-0 after 76 minutes.

Simple header for Van Dijk

This matters! Great awareness of Jota who brings the ball back to Van Dijk after a great save by Sa. The Dutchman headed in with a simple header into an empty goal.

Almost for Alisson

Alisson encouraged by the crowd to send a search for Salah. Unfortunately I can’t get this kick right.

Salah denied

Salah’s fair shot is approved by Dawson

Replacement of wolves

Coast up Jimenez for Wolves. Liverpool 2-0 after 79 minutes.

brilliant game

It’s a brilliant goal from Liverpool.

Great game from Tsimikas. Singled out by Alisson, he plays a quick 1-2 with Gakpo down the halfway line, leaving everyone dead on the left flank and slashing it for Salah.

Impressive performance from the Greek tonight.

Elliot denied

Save some from Sa to deny Elliott! Big chest down by Nunez also off the ball by Alexander-Arnold.

As close as Liverpool got.

Good move from Liverpool

Almost out of Liverpool when Nunez finds Alexander-Arnold with a cross-field cross.

His ball to Salah allows him to turn, but the pass to Jota narrowly missed. Decent displacement.

Big missed opportunity

Huge chance for Liverpool as Elliott heads away from Nunez center

Great play from Fabinho to steal the ball from midfield and give it to Jota to start the attack.

At least much better from the Brazilian tonight.

Bajcetic back involved

He is back on his feet but limps a bit. Keep on going. soldier

The crowd at Anfield try to help

The Anfield crowd are trying to bring Liverpool to life, but the stop-start nature of this game is not helping the Reds one bit.
