Man Utd have a serious interest in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat

Manchester United are serious about signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who is also on Barcelona’s radar, according to Sport.
The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2023-24 season, and Chelsea’s Mason Mount is the main focus for manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman sees the 24-year-old as the ideal player to provide more creativity, but could also be interested in signing another defensive midfielder this summer.

According to Sport, United take the pursuit of Amrabat seriously and have intensified contacts with the player’s entourage in the last few hours.
The Moroccan is preferred over Barcelona but is open to alternative choices as the Catalan giants cannot afford him due to fears of financial fair play.

Amrabat’s arrival could pave the way for Scott McTominay’s departure

Casemiro has been United’s undisputed choice for the number six role since making his Premier League debut in October last year. He was brilliant in this position.

The Brazilian is sure to keep his starting spot next season, but Ten Hag may want fierce competition for places. Amrabat would be a permanent assistant in the team.

The 26-year-old was an outstanding performance for Morocco at the World Cup in Qatar. He was exemplary with his work-rate and distribution from the defensive midfield role.

We think that would be a clear upgrade over McTominay. This season he has completed 90% of his passes in Serie A with 1.3 tackles and 3.1 duels won.

His positioning and focus on him are the main strengths of him. He would be a strong contender for Casemiro and could replace him if Ten Hag opts for the rotation. He is currently valued at €25m by Transfermarkt and could be available for a similar fee, with his contract at Fiorentina set to expire in the summer of 2024.

Manchester United missed out on the FA Cup after being beaten 2-1 by City at Wembley and attention now turns to the ongoing takeover saga at Old Trafford

So it shouldn’t be for Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Ilkay Gündogan’s brace gave Man City a 2-1 win at Wembley meaning Erik ten Hag’s side will have to settle for League Cup and Champions League qualification from of the 2022/23 season. The winning goal came thanks to an error from David de Gea but the manager then defended his man amid speculation it would be his last goal for the club.

But now the focus is on the Glazer family and the frustrating takeover saga. It has now been 194 days since they announced their intention to sell the club – and now that the season is over, surely there will be a decision on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim’s offers?

Avram Glazer was in the final yesterday but he ignored requests for media comment as he left the stadium.
In any case, Ten Hag hopes for a solution soon. The transfer window opens on 14 June, with the Dutch manager linked with a string of stars as he looks to strengthen his squad. Harry Kane is the name on everyone’s lips, but yesterday the club also officially confirmed an approach for Chelsea player Mason Mount. The season is now officially over for United, but the fun and the games may have just begun.

Erik ten Hag said he should drop Man Utd transfer plan after disagreement with Joel Glazer

Erik ten Hag would ideally like to sell Antony Martial this summer to free up cash and wages and strengthen his Manchester United squad after a frustrating season

Fight sale could be canceled by injury
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag may be frustrated in his bid to sell striker Anthony Martial this summer – the striker is admired by club co-chairman Joel Glazer.
It’s been 28 months since Martial played a full Premier League game and he was ruled out of the FA Cup final through injury – the sixth time he’s been on the touchline this season, scoring a long-term indicating a tendency towards fitness problems.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Martial’s injury setback could see him ruled out of a move away from the club this summer as he would have to undergo a medical elsewhere to convince a new club of his fitness abilities. United are prioritizing the signing of a starting centre-forward this summer, but are now also considering the transfer of Martial with the possibility of signing another striker as well with Wout Weghorst’s loan expiring at the end of the season.

However, Martial scored just nine goals in 29 appearances in a season marred by fitness problems and a prolonged absence from top form. He hasn’t scored in consecutive Premier League games since the 2019-20 season, which isn’t ideal for a club with United’s ambitions.

Ten Hag – Martial’s fifth manager at United – has publicly expressed his support and admiration for the striker. “When he’s on the pitch, he’s going to score,” he said last month. “It’s going to fit, it’s going to do well with the print. It’s really important to us. When it’s fit, it’s huge for us.”

United are not ruling out the possibility of signing two central forwards this summer if Martial leaves Weghorst. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane are seen as prime but potentially unavailable targets, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos as cheaper alternatives.
