Manchester United transfer news LIVE Erik ten Hag on new Man Utd target and Mason Greenwood situation

Man United manager Ten Hag has been speaking about his target for the club as well as the Greenwood situation.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag addressed the future of Mason Greenwood for the first time since February in an interview published yesterday.

In a chat with The Times, Ten Hag insisted it was not down to him whether Greenwood returned to the club when admitting that United need a player who can ease the goal-scoring burden on Marcus Rashford.

In other news, United are considering whether to sell Fred to Fulham in the summer. The Brazilian midfielder was filmed chatting with Fulham boss Marco Silva outside Old Trafford after the Reds won 2-1 on Sunday. MEN Sport understands United are considering selling the 30-year-old as they aim to bring down the average age of their midfield.

Silva will have been impressed with Fred in the second half after seeing his defence split open by the central midfielder for Bruno Fernandes’ winner. Following Monday’s Bank Holiday, United will continue their preparations for Saturday’s FA Cup final vs Manchester City.

Rice on West Ham future amid United links

Declan Rice admitted he is ‘not really focused’ on whether the upcoming Europa Conference League final could be his last game for West Ham.

Speculation surrounds the future of the 24-year-old midfielder, who is the Hammers’ captain. His deal at the London Stadium expires in the summer of 2024 and, though West Ham hold an option to extend it by a further 12 months, it is highly expected this season will be Rice’s last at his boyhood club.

United and Arsenal have been reported as potential destinations for Rice if he does indeed depart David Moyes’ side this summer.

To VAR or not to VAR?

VAR certainly divides opinion, but it is here and now a reality of Premier League football.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City stormed to their third consecutive Premier League title under the Catalan. As for Manchester United, Erik ten Hag brought Champions League football back to Old Trafford in his first season – with United finishing third after Sunday’s win over Fulham.

Arsenal and Newcastle United also booked their places in the top four, with Liverpool and Brighton earning Europa League spots and Aston Villa securing a seventh-placed finish that takes them into the Conference League. Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton all went down to the Championship, with the Foxes and Leeds relegated on the final day as Everton survived.

But how would the table have looked without the decisions which were impacted by the use of VAR?

Fernandes transfer message to Ramos

Bruno Fernandes is confident that Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos has the necessary qualities to adapt to life in the Premier League and play for Manchester United.

Ramos burst onto the scene in extraordinary fashion at last year’s World Cup in Qatar, scoring a hat-trick in Portugal’s 6-1 round-of-16 win over Switzerland.

His heroics against the Swiss immediately alerted an array of big-name clubs to his qualities and his potential, including United. As reported by the Manchester Evening News back in December, boss Erik ten Hag is a fan of Ramos and believes he has all of the necessary ingredients to make a name for himself in England.

Fernandes has had his say on his international team-mate amid the potential of a move to Old Trafford.

Bargains United could grab from relegated sides this summer

Southampton, Leicester City and Leeds United are the three times to have been relegated this season and all have sellable assets.

The trio will be in the Championship next season and many players on the books of those sides will be seeking to stay in the Premier League if they can.

As is often the case, relegated sides sell some of their best stars to get the maximum money they can to compensate for the loss of Premier League money.

United players celebrate at awards evening

United’s players and their partners got together to celebrate the club’s successes this term at their end-of-season awards ceremony last night.

Marcus Rashford was the biggest winner of the evening, scooping two major honours.

Ferdinand names four players United can sell to raise funds

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand believes the Reds can offload four players this summer to raise up to £100million.

United, ideally, need to sell before they can buy this summer, such is the level of quality they want to add to the squad. They want to recruit a new striker and a midfielder at the very least.

OPINION: Ten Hag transfer dig highlights priceless United changes

“It is a fact that United spent more across a single summer window than they ever had before, but there was some mitigation to that given they had lost six senior players on free transfers at the end of last season, which significantly lowered their wage expenditure and freed up sizeable transfer funds. So, with regard to the January window, he does have a valid point. In an ideal world, United would have been able to address their squad issues with top targets rather than what was simply available at the time, and it is testament to Ten Hag’s management that he still managed to make it a success when his hands were tied. More important than the players he brought in has been the mentality, with United now together in spirit as much as they are in name.”

Feyenoord ‘keen’ on Amad again

Feyenoord are ‘keen’ on pursuing a fresh move for United winger Amad ahead of this summer’s transfer window, according to a report by 1908.nl, as cited by the Sunderland Echo.

The winger spent this season on loan at Sunderland and played a key role in helping them secure a top-six berth in the Championship. They lost their two-legged play-off semi-final to Luton Town 3-2 on aggregate.

Amad was set to join Feyenoord on loan back in August 2021 only for the deal to be cancelled at the last minute because of an injury.

Ten Hag reveals next season’s targets

United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he wants United to mount a top two charge next season.

The Reds have finished his debut Premier League campaign in charge in third spot, meaning he hopes to see more progress made next term.

United injury latest

The FA Cup final is on the horizon and so everyone wants to know who will be fit and available to play.

Erik ten Hag has been given some huge injury boosts of late and so MEN Sport has rounded up all of the injury news you need to know ahead of this weekend’s clash with Manchester City.

Five bargains United could swoop for in summer transfer window

The Premier League campaign drew to a close on Sunday, confirming that both Leeds United and Leicester City have joined Southampton in being relegated to the Championship.

It means both clubs are now highly likely to lose the vast majority of their key assets. Could United move for any of them to strengthen their squad?

United may spring a tactical surprise vs City

“Figures at United acknowledged in the summer Anthony Martial would be a challenge for Erik ten Hag. The challenge has been more to do with his agility than his ability in a season Martial has sustained five separate injuries and missed 32 games. Ten Hag has said United are a better side with Martial starting. He has stressed that so repeatedly he must believe it even if many supporters don’t. Rather than scorn an unsellable talent who has outstayed his welcome, Ten Hag has maximised Martial (when available) whilst also planning for life without him.”
