Top 10 clubs in the Premier League Mohamed Salah had the highest goals against and No. 1 will astound fans

Mohamed Salah became just the fifth player in Liverpool history to reach 200 goals for the team earlier this season.

A 2-1 comeback against Crystal Palace was sparked by his crucial deflection goal, one of the many significant goals the Egyptian has scored for the Reds during his stay at Anfield.

He has now scored five more goals, and he is on track to become the first player in Liverpool history to score 20 goals or more in every competition for seven straight seasons.

Being one of the most prolific forwards in Premier League history, the winger’s relentlessness in front of goal has helped him carve out a legendary status inside the team.

Much like every great attacker, Salah has his favoured opposition. While not quite at ‘Luis Suarez vs Norwich’ levels of merciless goalscoring against one individual opponent, the 31-year-old has a whole host of clubs that must loathe facing him.

Here are Salah’s favourite opponents.

10. BRIGHTON – 8 GOALS

Brighton have consistently been one of Salah’s favourite opposition, but the Seagulls were particularly susceptible to his brilliance during the early stages of his Liverpool career.

Salah has eight goals in 14 meetings with the south coast side, five of which came in his first six clashes against them. He has also managed six assists against the Seagulls, who have rarely been able to contain his attacking talents.

While his most recent encounter with Brighton earlier this season saw him bag a brace, his best outing against them came during the title-winning 2019/20 campaign. The winger netted a double at the Amex Stadium during a 3-1 victory, while also providing the assist for Jordan Henderson’s early effort.

9. CRYSTAL PALACE – 8 GOALS

The side he scored his 200th Liverpool goal and 150th Premier League goal against are also his ninth favourite opponent. While he has also scored eight against Palace, he has done so in just 13 games.

Salah has grabbed seven assists against the Eagles as well, setting up Harvey Elliott’s winner on Saturday, and has been a constant thorn in their side.

Despite not finding the net in his first three meetings with Palace – two of which came for Chelsea – Salah would then net seven in as many games against them afterwards.

8. BOURNEMOUTH – 9 GOALS

Bournemouth haven’t had the best time against Liverpool in recent years, often finding themselves on the end of some emphatic scorelines. One of the reasons for this is undoubtedly Salah.

The Egyptian scored eight in his first six games against the Cherries, including a hat-trick during a 4-0 win on the south coast in the 2018/19 season.

Salah saw his penalty saved before converting the rebound in the Premier League clash this season, while he somehow failed to score or assist during the Reds’ 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth in the 2022/23 season.

6. WATFORD – 9 GOALS

Almost half of Salah’s goals against Watford came in just one match back in 2018, the attacker netting four and grabbing an assist in a 5-0 win over the Hornets at Anfield.

Salah has played Watford just eight times, but has had tended to score some lovely goals against them. There was the delightful little flick in a 2-0 win in 2019, the mazy run and finish during that 5-0 in 2018 and his sensational solo strike during another 5-0 drubbing in 2021.

5. LEEDS UNITED – 9 GOALS

Salah has scored nine goals against Leeds United, but what’s more impressive is that he’s done so in just six appearances.

His first ever encounter with the Yorkshire club came on the opening day of the 2020/21 campaign, Salah netting a hat-trick in a 4-3 victory at Anfield. Liverpool’s second meeting with Leeds that season is the only game against them that Salah has failed to score in.

The former Roma man netted braces against the Whites last season in a 6-1 win at Elland Road and the season before in a 6-0 thrashing at Anfield.

4. ARSENAL – 10 GOALS

Much like his famous partners in crime Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool’s No. 11 has also enjoyed his share of goals against Arsenal over the years.

In 15 meetings with the Gunners, Salah has found the back of the net ten times, including one of his rare goals for Chelsea in a 6-0 thrashing at Stamford Bridge.

Salah scored five in his first five against Arsenal for Liverpool, including a brace in the title-winning season.

Salah scored and missed a penalty in a 2-2 draw at Anfield last season and netted the Reds’ only goal in the 1-1 home draw before Christmas this term.

4. WEST HAM UNITED – 11 GOALS

Salah’s first few years at Liverpool were tough for West Ham. In his first eight games against the Irons, the forward scored nine goals, including that sensational breakaway strike during a 3-1 win in London back in 2021.

After a recent drought against the Hammers, Salah managed to find his shooting boots twice this term.

3. MANCHESTER CITY – 11 GOALS

Having gone toe-to-toe with Manchester City in plenty of title races, Salah has always proved a player that Pep Guardiola’s side can’t keep under control.

Salah has scored 11 goals in 21 appearances against the Cityzens, including a plethora of pivotal efforts on the big stage.

There have been some wonderful goals in there too – the dizzying run and finish in a 2-2 draw in 2021, the ultimate winner in a 4-3 victory back in 2018 and the delicate dink in the 2-1 Champions League victory at the Etihad in 2018.

Including the Community Shield, Salah has scored in four different competitions against Man City.

2. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – 11 GOALS

Salah’s record against Tottenham is ever so slightly better than against Man City, the 31-year-old scoring 11 times in 19 games against Spurs.

He has actually scored against the Lilywhites for three different sides – Basel, Fiorentina and Liverpool – and has even found the back of the net against the north London outfit in a Champions League final victory. It may have only been a penalty, but it sent the Reds on their way to a sixth European crown.

However, Salah’s best strike against Spurs came in the 2017/18 season. During a 2-2 draw on Merseyside, he finished off a delightful solo run by prodding beyond the onrushing Hugo Lloris, although Harry Kane’s late penalty robbed him of the winner in a thrilling game.

1. MANCHESTER UNITED – 12 GOALS

If there is any club that a Liverpool player wants to make a habit of scoring against, it’s Manchester United. For Salah, it’s almost been too easy to get the better of the Red Devils.

Salah has scored 12 times and registered four assists in just 13 matches against them, with some memorable goals and victories against Liverpool’s fierce rivals.

What is even more remarkable is that Salah actually failed to register any goal contribution in his first four matches against Man Utd, all 16 of his goals and assists coming in his last nine games against them.

His hat-trick against United in a 5-0 mauling at Old Trafford looked as if it would be the best he would offer, but his brace and two assists in the famous 7-0 win over the Red Devils last season has managed to top it.
