In the clash against Arsenal on Sunday, Anthony Martial was handed a starting role for Manchester United, further solidifying the notion that his tenure at Old Trafford is inching towards its conclusion.

Despite starting his second consecutive game, the Frenchman’s impact remained minimal, and he found himself substituted just past the one-hour mark. On the pitch, he seemed to be taking a leisurely Sunday stroll at the Emirates Stadium, a stark contrast to the intensity of the game where United eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against the Gunners.

Martial’s performance lacked any notable scoring opportunities, and it’s evident that at this juncture in his career, he falls far short of the lethal striker that Erik ten Hag’s squad requires to contend for major honors.

Having spent nine seasons at Old Trafford, a significant portion of the fanbase appears to have grown weary of waiting for the injury-prone forward to deliver consistent performances.

During the game, numerous Red Devils supporters took to Twitter to voice their disappointment with Martial’s lackluster display, describing him as “a shadow of his former self,” “looking like a football novice,” and “seemingly devoid of any impact.”

In contrast, Manchester United fans seemed more impressed with Rasmus Hojlund, who made his club debut by replacing Martial. The 20-year-old Danish forward showcased his physical prowess and, although not presented with significant scoring opportunities, managed to assume a central role in the Man United attack.

Dramatic Conclusion at the Emirates The match at the Emirates Stadium provided a dramatic storyline. After Arsenal initially dominated the proceedings, Marcus Rashford unexpectedly broke the deadlock against the run of play in the 27th minute. However, the home side quickly responded, with Martin Odegaard equalizing for Arsenal just 100 seconds later.

The second half was marked by contentious VAR decisions, as the initially awarded penalty to Arsenal for a foul by Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Kai Havertz was ultimately overturned. To add to the drama, a late Alejandro Garnacho goal for United was disallowed due to an offside ruling.

Deep into stoppage time, Declan Rice notched his first goal for Arsenal, and Gabriel Jesus added a third, leaving Manchester United to rue a defeat that had appeared to be a victory just moments earlier.

Erik ten Hag was enraged by THREE decisions that went against Manchester United as they succumbed late in a 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

In the 96th and 100th minutes, Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus scored to give the Gunners all three points in North London. Marcus Rashford put Manchester United ahead in the first half, only for Martin Odegaard to equalize 35 seconds later.

In the 88th minute, replacement Alejandro Garnacho sprinted clear and coolly tucked into the bottom corner, giving United the lead. However, after the away team’s and fans’ wild celebrations, VAR stepped in to deem the Argentine youngster offside.

United’s Dutch manager was enraged by the verdict and argued that the technology was WRONG. In an interview with Sky Sports, he claimed, “It’s not offside.” [It’s the] incorrect angle.”

When asked about his statements and whether offside is a black-and-white issue that either exists or does not exist, Ten Hag responded, “It is, so we have to accept it.” But I’ve seen the perspective. “I don’t think it’s offensive.”

Ten Hag also insisted that, with the game tied at 1-1, United should have been awarded a penalty for a foul on £72million new boy Rasmus Hojlund, who was sent sprawling to the floor by Arsenal defender Gabriel.

And he was enraged by the game’s defining moment, Rice’s 96th-minute winner, on which the United manager thought the referees made another error, with Gabriel appearing to stop Jonny Evans in the penalty area.

“It’s a penalty on Hojlund,” Ten Hag shouted. “At the end, we concede a goal on a foul on Jonny Evans.” It’s very obvious and straightforward.”

Despite the setback, United manager Alex Ferguson was pleased with his team’s performance.

“I believe the performance is adequate. “I think we played very well,” he continued. “However, everything worked against us. You win the game with a little more luck.

“OK, we can tell you, finish your chances, don’t concede a goal after going 1-0 up, all of that is true, but I think we took a step forward with the performance.”

“I think we were calm on the ball, but there is always room for improvement.” I see an opportunity for us to move forward. We missed some passes that could have really hurt them. But, overall, I’m pleased with the performance. As previously stated, I see a good pattern with a rising trend line.

“Today’s margins were razor thin. We’re going to win this game when Garna finishes and scores.”
