Manchester United secured a tight 1-0 win over Fulham to start the 2024/25 Premier League season with a win, but one Marcus Rashford moment left many United fans talking the same thing.
Rashford had a rather cagey game against the Cottagers, but Erik ten Hag’s decision to leave him on the pitch until the last kick of the game was close to paying off when he set up the biggest chance of the game.
Man United were already 1-0 up in injury time when they had a swift counter-attack involving Rashford and Garnacho. The former had a chance to double the lead from a position he could have attempted on goal, but instead, he decided to be unselfish and pass the ball through to Garnacho to score an open net. The Argentine miskicked completely and the chance went begging.
Although the attack did not lead to United’s second goal, many Man United fans were pleased with Rashford’s unselfish play, with some claiming that Rashford’s act was a display of maturity and sportsmanship.
However, the chance was so good that rival fans were quick to describe the missed chance as a ‘miss of the season’. Some football fans thought the pass from Rashford was not good enough.
United will look to continue this form next weekend when they face Brighton away from home on Saturday lunchtime.
