Liverpool sent the same Jurgen Klopp push message that Antonio Conte heard at Tottenham

Jamie Carragher has spoken out about the situation at Liverpool, just like Gary Neville did at Tottenham a month ago

Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool to stick with Jurgen Klopp despite the Reds’ disappointing season. Klopp’s side are eighth in the Premier League table, well behind Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the table after battling for the title and winning once in the past four seasons.

Liverpool were beaten 5-2 by Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, raising fresh question marks over Klopp’s future as manager. But Carragher, a Reds legend, believes the German is still the right fit for the job.

And the Sky Sports and CBS Sports pundit believes the players are to blame, not the manager. Speaking to our friends at Mirror Football, Carragher said: “You don’t get another Klopp and that’s my thing, where do you get another Klopp for Liverpool?

“The first thing for me is that you don’t change the coach, you change the players.”

The ‘you don’t have another Jurgen Klopp’ idea was similar to one Carragher’s Sky Sports colleague Gary Neville posed to Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur when Spurs were under fire.

Spurs are fourth in the table, but were considered one of the closest sides to a title challenge before a ball was kicked. Neville said of Conte and Spurs: “I think they both need to shake hands, sign a two or three year contract and act together because somehow it seems like they’re just wandering aimlessly down the road like they’re not.” friends.

“Why shouldn’t they be friends? Conte got Tottenham in the Champions League, he also got support and got £200m to get the players he wanted, I’m not sure why these dark clouds are appearing over Spurs. Things are going very well at Tottenham, I would say they are on their way to where I thought they would be.

“From Conte’s point of view, what better job will he have at the moment than Tottenham Hotspur? They play in the Champions League and have the most incredible stadium in European football.”
