Liverpool legends side are back in action against their Celtic counterparts in a 3pm kick-off at Anfield today.

It promises to be an exciting afternoon of entertainment during the international break, with top line-ups around town representing both teams.

The Kop Dalglish icon will headline a star-studded gathering of former Liverpool players at Anfield tomorrow afternoon during the annual LFC Foundation charity match. The Reds have hosted Manchester United and Barcelona in recent years.

All proceeds from the game will support a range of programs run by the LFC Foundation and partner organizations including schools, inclusive sport, community action, health and wellness and food poverty. Steven Gerrard is the big name in the Reds squad, which also includes Sami Hyypia, Gary McAllister, Steve McManaman, Robbie Keane and Dirk Kuyt. While Stiliyan Petrov will captain the Celts, his team’s squad includes Mikael Lustig, Joe Ledley, Emilio Izaguirre and Hesselink’s Jan Vennegoor.

As was often the case during his Liverpool career, Steven Gerrard was the deciding factor here at Anfield. The former Reds captain pushed his penalty into the bottom right corner, sending goalkeeper Artur Boruc the wrong way. Aside from this milestone, Ragnar Klavan has been another standout performer for the Reds.

You know what, you can tell Ragnar Klavan is the newest pro at this. He took it upon himself to roam the pitch from his natural position of centre-back. Bad luck for not preparing a lead for Dirk Kuyt when the Dutchman was too heavy in the penalty area after his knockdown.

At least two people are believed to have been injured on a busy street in Liverpool this afternoon.

A section of Oakfield Road in Anfield has been closed following an alleged lorry accident.

It takes place before the Liverpool v Celtic Legends game which starts at 3pm at nearby Anfield stadium.

Numerous police cars and the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are on site.
