And the referee closes the game at the Etihad, with Man City’s Premier League title chase boosted after a dominant second-half performance.

Stay tuned for a full rundown of today’s match coming up.

90+1′: added three minutes

The referee added three minutes, but the result of this match has been set for some time.

Liverpool’s constant pressure since the first half has dissipated and City have so far used their space and tempo on the ball to create numerous chances.

88′: Grealish gives in

After a performance worthy of a player for the home side, Jack Grealish was replaced for the final minutes by 20-year-old City Academy graduate Cole Palmer. 83′: The two teams change

James Milner replaces Cody Gakpo for the visitors as Guardiola makes his first substitution of the afternoon while Rodri makes way for Bernardo Silva.

82′: City closes

Grealish receives the ball from De Bruyne on the edge of the box, but his well-aimed shot hits Allison squarely.

80′: Grealish Blinds

Home fans chant ‘You’ll be fired in the morning’ at Jurgen Klopp as the atmosphere at the Etihad continues to grow with City’s continued dominance.

Grealish once again put on an outstanding display of dribbling to find space in City’s penalty area and when they don’t get the chance, they recycle possession without giving the Reds a chance to step in.

77 ‘: Dominance of the city

After a hard-fought first 45 minutes, Liverpool seem to have lost the aggressive advantage that came with their early pressing.

City’s dominance in possession means Klopp’s changes in the period since their arrival could not have a significant impact on the game. Grealish scores!

After dominating the match for a while, City once again found the space they needed to shoot on goal.

Grealish was outstanding today and is rewarded for his tenacity with a superb pass from De Bruyne sliding inside to take City’s afternoon tally to four.

Klopp makes changes

Jurgen Klopp made the first substitutions of the afternoon with Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino, Kostas Tsimikas and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain replacing Mo Salah Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott.

58′: City bustle

City are really enjoying their football here now, but Liverpool are responding well and clamoring for a denied penalty after Gakpo goes down in the penalty area.

Guardiola’s team reacts immediately and Grealish goes close but is rejected by a good save from Allison. 54′: Liverpool seem to react

Once again Gakpo did well to free up space up front, and his shot was deflected for a corner.

Alexander-Arnold tried some crosses from the ensuing attack, but failed to find the target on either occasion.

Gundogan scores!

Alvarez creates a constant nuisance in the Liverpool box, connecting play wonderfully and coming close to adding a second to his score, but Alexander-Arnold blocks well.

However, a well-placed Gundogan grabbed the rebound and charged home to extend his team’s lead.

46′: Let’s go again!

After a short delay due to referee Simon Hooper’s rig, the teams returned to the field and Liverpool were back on track after a tense first half at the Etihad. Both teams are unchanged and try to take the initiative after the break.

PEACE

After two minutes of added time, the referee ended the first half action at the Etihad with the two teams level.

Mo Salah continued his run of crucial goals on more memorable occasions, edging past Ederson to put the visitors ahead.

The Egyptian nearly doubled Liverpool’s lead when a well timed counter-attack saw him charge on goal with no City defender in sight before Jack Grealish stormed back to deny.

Grealish then turned supplier as City struck on the break, with his ball over the penalty area to find Julian Alvarez, as the Argentine duly converted to equalize for Pep Guardiola’s side. City have enjoyed a long period of dynamism since then, with the temperature of the game rising, punctuated by several fiery moments between the sides.

46′: Mahrez finds Rodri on a corner kick

De Bruyne tried to find Alvarez from the right, but his opening cross was cleared by Van Dijk.

Mahrez delivered the Citizens next corner to an unmarked Rodri at the near post, but was unable to direct his shot towards goal.

40′: Grealish and Alexander-Arnold meet

A pair of encounters between England team-mates Grealish and Alexander-Arnold underline the growing intensity of this match as we approach half-time.

The referee calls both players for a parley in an attempt to get cooler heads to prevail. 16′: Mahrez gets closer

Mahrez attempts a free-kick after a fake from De Bruyne, but his shot goes just wide of the target.

Liverpool counter immediately but Salah’s goal is overshot.

14′: Free kick for City

City sit deep as Liverpool invade their own half and John Stones takes center stage in midfield as the game progresses.

A quick counter-attack finds Grealish in space and a Henderson foul on De Bruyne gives the hosts a free-kick in a very favorable position at this early stage.

Haaland Watches

Erling Haaland could be seen in the stands after Erling Haaland missed today’s match due to an injury he picked up midweek. 8′: Fabinho walks a fine line

Liverpool’s Brazilian star was stopped by the referee again, this time for a foul on Jack Grealish.

Despite a few minor infractions earlier, he gets away with one stern warning.
