Arsenal’s next five Premier League games compared against Man City and Man Utd after Everton win

Arsenal next five Premier League games against Man City and Man Utd after Everton win

The Gunners have boosted their Premier League hopes after clinching a five-point lead over Manchester City with a crucial win over Everton

Arsenal bolstered their Premier League title hopes after claiming victory over Everton in their key game against Manchester City. After a winning weekend for the two title rivals, the Gunners had the chance to take a five-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s side at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday and they took advantage of it.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring with a shot past Jordan Pickford at the near post five minutes from time. In added time for the first 45, Gabriel Martinelli capitalized on an error by Idrissa Gueye to double the hosts’ lead.

In the second half, Mikel Arteta’s men maintained their dominance, Martin Odegaard adding a third before Martinelli netted his second of the night and fourth in three games to add sparkle to a decisive and controlling triumph. Then Arsenal have an easier run-in than their rivals, at least on paper, but as we’ve seen repeatedly this season, anything can happen. With that in mind, football.london takes a look at the leaders’ next five games against their arch-rivals this season.

    Bournemouth (H) – Premier League – March 4

Bournemouth had proven in recent weeks that they would be a tough team to break after drawing with Newcastle before beating Wolves at Molineux. However, the Cherries were unmasked at the Vitality Stadium last weekend by Arsenal’s title rivals Man City. A 4-1 loss to Pep Guardiola’s side is unlikely to damage their confidence as many were likely expecting an away win. The Gunners are home to their draw with Bournemouth and expect a win – and by a margin – if their last game against a relegation-threatened side is anything.

    Fulham (A) – Premier League – March 12

Having nearly beaten Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season, Fulham have continued to show they are more than capable of influencing the race in European football. And they are in fine form, unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions. Marco Silva’s men were met by a resolute Wolves in their last Premier League match, but were able to demonstrate why their form is so good at Craven Cottage earlier this week. In the fifth round of the FA Cup, Fulham sent Leeds to the quarter-finals with two great goals from Joao Palhinha and Manor Solomon. However, they will have to do without the first, suspended for the meeting in West London.

    Crystal Palace (H) – Premier League – 19 March

Another London derby awaits Arsenal and another reunion for Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira at his former club. The Eagles have struggled for both form and in front of goal of late, most recently winning on New Year’s Eve and scoring just four league goals in 2023.

Nevertheless, Palace should not be underestimated as there is plenty of attacking talent in their ranks and their main opponent Wilfred Zaha should be fit for this game.

    Leeds United (H) – Premier League – April 1

In April, Arsenal host relegation-threatened Leeds at the Emirates Stadium. Los Blancos recently appointed Javi Gracia as their new manager and he was able to oversee a crucial Premier League win over Southampton. In the fifth round of the FA Cup the following midweek, Leeds were beaten by Fulham, leaving them free to focus on maintaining their status in the English top flight. Another home game gives the Gunners a clear advantage given their impeccable form in north London, but Leeds would need to retire at this stage of the season to stay alive.

    Liverpool (A) – Premier League – April 9

Arsenal’s toughest game of this race on paper will almost certainly be a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool over Easter weekend. The Reds’ performances this season and their position in the league table show the Gunners should have no trouble securing a league double, but at home and with the players they have in their ranks, Liverpool shouldn’t. not be underestimated. The two sides played a cracker at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season where Arsenal won 3-2 and a similar match could be scheduled. Jurgen Klopp’s men are six points off the top four with one game to go after beating Wolves, and will certainly be looking for a Champions League qualifying place to somehow salvage a bad campaign.
