As the Red Devils pursue a deal for Porto striker, Man Utd

The summer transfer window’s formally open 11 days ago, Manchester United has not added any new players to their roster.

Erik ten Hag will be charged with replacing five first team talents who will leave the Red Devils when their contracts expire on June 30.

The Sun, however, reports that Ten Hag’s team is “coming in” on the £40 million signing of Ajax winger Antony, suggesting that United’s search for a new face may soon be ended.

The newspaper also reports that representatives from the Red Devils have traveled to Amsterdam today to obtain the Brazilian’s signature.

Since Antony worked with Ten Hag at Ajax before the manager moved to Old Trafford, he is familiar with the Dutchman.

The Brazilian forward, 22, who has six caps, had a standout season for the Dutch club last year, scoring 12 goals and dishing out 10 assists in 33 games across all competitions.

In Ajax’s farewell video to Ten Hag, the Brazilian said the following, hinting that Antony would be pleased to work with his old boss if the chance arose “I’d like to wish you luck with your new team.

“Furthermore, I want to thank you for all the lessons you taught me.

“I appreciate all the opportunities and daily learning.

“Know that I am here for you whenever you need me.”

O Jogo claims that United are ‘continuing their pursuit’ of Porto attacker Evanilson.

According to the Portuguese daily, the Red Devils plan to make another proposal for the 22-year-old after having their initial offer of £55 million rejected.

The attacker, who scored 21 goals in 45 outings for the team last season across all competitions, is valued by Porto at roughly £70 million, which has deterred interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion.

After United announced that Edinson Cavani will leave this summer, Ten Hag would want to make a bid for a striker. With Cristiano Ronaldo anticipated to lead the line for the Red Devils next season, the options up top are limited.
