Borussia Dortmund got the better of Union Berlin in a chaotic match to make it four straight Bundesliga wins. Goals from Niclas Füllkrug, Nico Schlotterbeck, Julian Brandt and Julian Ryerson gave the Black and Yellows a 4-2 victory as they bounced back from a poor performance in the first 45 minutes.Edin Terzic will certainly feel relieved when his team won all 3 points after being dominated in the first half. In the end, however, Union Berlin showed why they entered the match on a six-match losing streak as they crumbled under the pressure. And Borussia Dortmund took full advantage of that advantage to win.

Below are our player ratings for Borussia Dortmund’s 4-2 win over Union Berlin.

Gregor Kobel (6/10)

Kobel was helpless against both Union Berlin goals, but made a vital save to deny Sheraldo Becker late in the first half.

Marius the Wolf (5/10)

Wolf struggled in the first half. But he improved slightly after the break and looked more dangerous both going forward and with his link-up play.

Mats Hummels (5/10)

Hummels did not have the best of games as he was awarded a penalty before being sent off after picking up an injury. The veteran midfielder blocked several Union Berlin attacks. But they were overshadowed by his penalty.

Nico Schlotterbeck (7/10)

Schlotterbeck reacted very well to being dropped from the German squad and put in an impressive performance for his team. As always, he was safe with his passes in the warm-up match. And he also started Borussia Dortmund’s comeback with an excellent shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Julien Ryerson (7/10)

Ryerson continued his scoring streak and made a significant change to left-back for the match against his former club. His goal was more than just lucky, but his performance once again showed why he is a favorite with Borussia Dortmund fans. The Norwegian international worked hard, defended well and fought for every possession.

Emre Can (5/10)

Emre Can struggled in the first half and allowed Union Berlin to control the match. He had a much better performance after the break and helped prevent some dangerous Union Berlin counter-attacks.

Felix Nmecha (6/10)

Nmecha was a passenger at times in the first half, and his lack of follow-through frustrated fans at times. But he stepped on the gas after the break and became more involved in defense and attack.

Marco Reus (August 10)

Reus continued his excellent form, scoring 2 of 4 goals for Borussia Dortmund. The former club captain took some excellent set pieces and also did well to set up Julian Brandt’s counter-attack to score the lead goal. Even though he is 34 years old, Reus continues to make a difference for his team in the Bundesliga.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (5/10)

Bynoe-Gittens had some promising moments in the first half as he tried to settle things for his team. But his decision-making in the final third wasn’t always spot on and Julian Brandt came on for him at half-time.

Nicolas Fullkrug (7/10)

Füllkrug put in a lively performance and gave Borussia Dortmund the lead. He unfortunately scored an own goal but continued to fight for his teammates even when not directly participating.

Julien Brandt (7/10)

Brandt is one of Borussia Dortmund’s most consistent players this season. And he continued his impressive form by coming off the bench and giving his team the lead with a calm appearance.
