Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate return as three Liverpool players have been left out for Wolves

Liverpool injury updates on Darwin Nunez, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz ahead of Wolves game

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Ibrahima Konate and Darwin Nunez could both return for Liverpool against Wolves on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman has not been injured since picking up a hamstring injury against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup last month, but returned to training last week. Meanwhile, the Uruguayan missed the Reds’ 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace after picking up a shoulder injury at Newcastle United the previous weekend.

And although Klopp declined to confirm either will be involved against Wolves, he did reveal that both had trained normally ahead of Wednesday night’s game.

“Ibou trained quite normally yesterday, and so did Darwin,” the German told reporters today. “Now you have to see how he (reacts), especially I think for Ibou.

“He hasn’t had any problems since his injury, we just wanted to give him more training time before involving him again. It should be fine now.

“Darwin, we have to see. It’s the shoulder. He seemed totally fine yesterday but I don’t know until some people tell me how he reacted yesterday.

While the pair will return, Klopp confirmed Liverpool will be without Thiago Alcantara, Joe Gomez and Luis Diaz. However, there has been at least some positive news about the Colombian as the German has provided an update on his one-on-one rehabilitation.

“Let’s start with the not so positives. Thiago not (available). He’s in rehab,” he said. “Joe Gomez is out with a muscle problem.

“Luis, I watched half an hour of his field rehab session. Spot, shoot, move. It all looks very good. But he wasn’t in team training yet, so this is probably the decisive piece of information.

Meanwhile, Klopp also shared his delight at the recent return from injury of Diogo Jota after the Portuguese made his first start since sustaining a calf injury last October when Liverpool traveled to Crystal Palace. And while the Reds boss admitted it will take time for the striker to regain his best form after such a long layoff, he confirmed that Jota will be involved against his former club Wolves.

“Very (important that he comes back). It’s huge, it’s huge, of course,” Klopp said. “Diogo is an exceptional player. Now he has to find his rhythm. “I think (starting) helped him a lot. Yes, he was tired after the game. It’s obvious. We have to see how he reacted and today we have to make these decisions, who can start or who should start. But he will definitely be involved again if nothing happens. “A top player, he’s fantastic. He’s versatile. He can play on the left wing, he can play in the center and also on the right wing. It’s good in this intense period we’re going through.”
