Jurgen Klopp compares the way Liverpool and Chelsea working to rebuild their teams

Jurgen Klopp has stressed that the rebuilding of Liverpool will not be complete ‘overnight’ as they are not as free to spend on players as Chelsea.
The German signed a new contract with the Reds last season until 2026, insisting he wants to help refresh their identity and squad.

After achieving an unprecedented four-fold in two wins last season, Liverpool have really struggled this season. They currently sit ninth in the Premier League table and face an unfavorable clash against Real Madrid in a repeat round of 16 of last season’s Champions League final.

Speaking on Mike Calvin’s Football People podcast, Klopp said Liverpool’s job of rebuilding is more difficult as they can’t spend as much money as Chelsea have been lately. “I’m not saying that this is the biggest challenge, but it is a challenge, and it was one of the main reasons why I had signed a new contract because I knew it was necessary,” he said.
“It will not go from one day to the next, and now imagine the situation with another coach on the chair. I would be somewhere on vacation and all shouting my name” would not have happened with him! “They are not clearly a wonderful worker. That’s why it is positive as it is, because all the problems you have in a transition period, we have many injuries and this makes life really complicated. I have no problems with what I see clearly .. I know That most of the outside world is simply interested in the short term, but we must also be concentrated in the long term, and that’s what we are.

The versatile Liverpool forward is open to a new long-term contract despite exit talks

“There’s obviously a lot of different ways to do that but it all depends on the situation you’re in, especially with the things that are happening around Chelsea with new ownership, obviously nobody really knows how they do it. , how they can spend so much money Other teams, nobody likes when I talk about it… but the transition takes time unless you have endless money, otherwise you can change practically overnight and bring in 10 players.

“Last week I was asked if I’m too loyal, I’m not too loyal, but questioning loyalty in general is a sign of our times, the times we live in too, that I really don’t like that much I’ve never seen anything wrong with loyalty, to be honest with you, your friends, your family, your business, in an ideal world you’re loyal and that’s a a two-way street. It’s an ideal world where both sides feel the same and great things can happen.”

Liverpool set to drop summer signing this month as rebuilding continues: report

Liverpool are in for a lot of upheaval in the coming weeks – and the deal at Anfield is still in the works

Liverpool only brought in a new face in January – but are ready to let the players leave their injury-ravaged squad.

The Reds are currently without Virgil van Dijk and Diogo Jota, among others, as Jurgen Klopp’s side sit ninth in the Premier League table. Only Cody Gakpo has moved to Anfield so far. The Dutchman has yet to score.

But with Klopp looking pessimistic about signings, it looks like the bodies will have to leave Merseyside before new blood is brought in. According to CaughtOffside (opens in new tab), Calvin Ramsay is on loan just months after joining Liverpool from Aberdeen.

The 19-year-old was an exciting signing in the summer, he is expected to serve as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deputy at right-back and is much loved in Scotland. At present, he has played once in the League Cup and once in Europe.

Swansea City are seen as a potential destination for the young defender, who signed a five-year deal in the summer for an initial fee of just over £4m. Ramsay became a club record sale for Aberdeen at the time. 37-year-old James Milner replaced the Reds’ right-back this season in Alexander-Arnold’s absence. The utility veteran became the second-youngest player ever in the Premier League when he came on as a substitute on his senior debut for Leeds United in 2002… the year before Ramsay was born.

Liverpool’s other summer signings Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho have so far received mixed reviews. Nunez received almost as much criticism as praise from fans, while Carvalho looked cheerful but regularly struggled to get into Klopp.
