Klopp confirms Luis Diaz return as Diaz names game he hopes to return
Diaz has not played since picking up a knee injury in the Reds’ 3-2 defeat by Arsenal on 9 October. he returned to England to undergo knee surgery.
Speaking earlier this month, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed Diaz had stepped up his rehabilitation and was now walking on grass.
However, he admitted it will be “a few weeks” before he is ready to return to first-team training. But now the former Porto winger has broken his silence in an interview with Sky Sports, admitting he has his sights set on the second leg of the thrilling Champions League tie between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on 15 March.
“Let’s wait to see when I can get back on the pitch, and if it’s the Bernabeu it won’t be a problem,” the 26-year-old said when asked for an update on his recovery. Before later adding that he hopes to be “back soon.”
Luis Díaz has expressed his hopes of returning from injury in time for Liverpool’s trip to Real Madrid next month.
The Reds have already hinted they expect Diaz – who made his Premier League debut for the club a year ago today – to be ready in time for the round of 16 second leg after naming him in their Champions League. selection for the knockout stage.
Meanwhile, both Arthur Melo and Calvin Ramsay were cut from the squad. Liverpool host the reigning European and Spanish champions for the first leg at Anfield on February 21.
