Very Good News for Liverpool as some players on injury list may resume soonest than expected.
Ibrahima Konat
Konate picked up a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to Brighton, ensuring he won’t feature in this weekend’s away game against Wolves. The World Cup runner-up is also expected to miss the Merseyside derby and could also be considered for Real Madrid’s away fixture on February 21.Estimated return date: February
Virgil van Dijk
The Dutch defender was taken off in the Reds’ loss to Brentford earlier this month, although he initially played down fears over the change at half-time.
Klopp later confirmed that the Dutch international would be out for “more than a month” with a hamstring injury, telling reporters: “Virg is a surprise for us. It was obviously a big blow, he didn’t didn’t feel much,” said the German. “I actually knocked him out. No risk, it wasn’t clear, maybe he could have tried.
“In the end the diagnosis was quite difficult, we are talking about weeks, more than a month. I hope it will pass soon, but we will have to see. For now it is not available and it is”. “He never had a problem with the muscles, never mentioned anything and it just happened. It’s like he is. Nothing else. At the moment, one sprint too many.Estimated return date: February
Luis Diaz
Diaz has been out of action against Arsenal since suffering a knee injury on October 3.
He was originally due to return after the World Cup but suffered a training setback in Dubai earlier this month. This forced the Colombia international to undergo another operation which extended his time on the touchline.Estimated return date: March
Diogo Jota
Jota has been out since beating Manchester City on October 16 with a calf injury.
The injury meant the forward missed the World Cup with Portugal and he is yet to remain in the treatment room as he continues his recovery.
“I don’t know exactly how long,” Klopp said of his expected return date. “He’s looking really good, he’s out there on the pitch, he’s done a lot already, but still a few more weeks.”Estimated return date: February
Roberto Firmino
Firmino was sidelined after picking up a muscle injury just before December’s Carabao Cup clash with Man City and hasn’t featured for the first team since the World Cup hiatus. Klopp recently hinted that the Brazilian could return to training soon, saying: “Luis is taking more time but Diogo, Bobby and Virgil, in a few weeks they will be part of training. Then we have to see how speed it goes from there.Estimated return date: February
Arthur Melo
Arthur has been out since his muscle injury in October and has yet to return to training.
Since his loan from Juventus, Arthur has played just 13 minutes for the Reds, who came on as a substitute against Napoli in the Champions League.
Closer to a return to action, Klopp admitted the player is progressing well behind the scenes. On the 26-year-old’s current condition ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup defeat on the south coast, the German said: “Pretty good, I walked a lot. Maybe two or three weeks, until he can participate in team training again.”
