Piotr Zieliński spent two seasons on loan from Udinese at Empoli before joining Napoli in 2016. The latter was able to successfully win against competition from Liverpool more than six years ago and secure his services.

The Reds’ failure to sign the 28-year-old has been discussed by Empoli’s president and even the player himself in the past.

Liverpool could have another chance to sign the Poland international if recent claims are to be believed. The player has a contract until 2024 and earns 3.5 million euros per year. Il Mattino argues that his current salary appears to be “too important” given the salary structure established by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis in recent months. Therefore, his future at the Neapolitan club is increasingly at stake.

According to reports in Poland, the attacking midfielder could cut his salary to 2.5 million euros a year to sign an extension.

This was reported by Il Mattino, who adds that his future can only be in the Premier League if he fails to find a new contract with Napoli. Jürgen Klopp’s side are mentioned when discussing options in England. Zieliński is said to have ‘always dreamed’ of playing in the Premier League and Liverpool could persuade Klopp’s old target to move to England.

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is looking to leave Liverpool at the end of the season as the 27-year-old grows frustrated with life on Merseyside.

The Guinea international has had plenty of minutes in recent weeks as the Reds try to find answers to their midfield problems and although Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep the player, Keita wants to leave this summer amid interest from two Milanese clubs, Lyon and ex-Club RB Leipzig.

So says transfer insider Graeme Bailey, who shared the player’s stance on his future with TeamTalk as the Guinea star is still upset over an incident last season.
The Liverpool midfielder is undergoing a reshuffle this summer and that’s probably another reason why Keita wants to leave as he’s likely to rotate a lot.

Speaking to TeamTalk, Bailey said of Keita’s situation at Liverpool: “James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are all out of contract. And while all three have played for the past few months, whether or not they’ll stick around remains to be seen.

“Someone dating seems to be Keita, but his situation is complicated. I understand that he still feels hurt by many situations at the club.

“Jurgen Klopp loves him as a player, he has always loved him and above all I was told that he would like him to stay. Indeed, at 27 he is probably at his peak, or at least he should be.

The transfer insider said Keita’s decision is based on an incident that happened last season and went on to say:

“He was excluded from the Champions League final, which hurt him. He put in some brilliant displays before the big showdown against Real Madrid and really thought he would start that game in Paris.

“But that was followed by a big reason why he now he was apparently heading for the exit door. And that was the fact that Liverpool didn’t reward him for the form of him.

“He produced what he thought was his best form ever for Liverpool and indeed in his career. But no talk materialized and that hurt and worried him alike. “Although he’s seen a little more play in recent weeks, he’s not really thinking about staying at Anfield.”
