Liverpool could repeat Darwin Núñez transfer trick and pounce on ‘rejected’ offer from Man United

Liverpool may be repeating a trick played on Darwin Núñez for a World Cup star who appears to have turned down an offer from Manchester United.

Liverpool are likely to need several midfielders this summer, with a revolution on the way after what has been a disappointing season.

Jürgen Klopp knows the time is right to reshape the midfield, and more midfielders than Jude Bellingham are likely to join the club.

One of them could be Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

The Moroccan was linked with a move to Liverpool (via Fichajes) during an impressive World Cup campaign with his country as they reached a historic semi-final. Amrabat was one of his country’s best players and with just over a year on his contract with the Tuscan side, he was linked with a move to a string of clubs. In the end he stayed put, but his brother confirmed that he could have gone to Manchester United.

Nordin Amrabat told Voetbal Primeur: “I can name three clubs that have been concrete in the last two or three days of the transfer window. “Manchester United wanted a loan with an option to buy, Fiorentina refused,” he added.

Fiorentina may well decide to sell Amrabat this summer to turn him into profit and Liverpool may repeat what they did with Darwin Núñez given that Benfica reportedly had a bid from United for the striker last summer turned down and he has ended up joining Liverpool is a big money grab.

Could it be the same with Amrabat this summer?

Liverpool.com says: Amrabat could be a very good choice for Liverpool this summer given Fabinho’s form this season. The Moroccan star is in his prime and Liverpool would do well to sign him on a cheap deal. Amrabat at the base of Liverpool’s midfield, perhaps surrounded by Jude Bellingham and others, would be a very pleasant sight next season.
