Liverpool are reportedly looking to weaken Premier League rivals Chelsea by signing a current Blues midfielder and Champions League winner.

There’s a lot to talk about right now in regards to the West London club, even though it’s been closed for two weeks. We are at least halfway through the period without the CFC playing.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter puts his Chelsea side to work at Cobham Training Ground. The Blues clash at Stamford Bridge with the capital Fulham on Friday night. It will be very interesting to see what formation, system and personality the head coach chooses for the game against the Cottagers.

In terms of the transfer market, Chels may not be done yet, although frankly a surprising amount has been spent on transfer fees in this window. If you trust the latest speculation from reputable sources like Fabrizio Romano, you’ll see that the Blues could be on the verge of a breakthrough for Enzo Fernandez. What an incredible starting XI with all these additions. Todd Boehly’s intention to make Chelsea a real force is surprising. We now move on to a completely different topic, as the UK government is apparently “close” to unlocking the proceeds from Roman Abramovich’s £2.3bn CFC sale. The money will go to a foundation for Ukraine, according to The Telegraph. It may have taken some time to complete, but it’s nice to know that the money will go to a good cause.

OK, now let’s move on to the gossip at hand. N’golo Kante’s current contract expires at the end of 2022/23. Then Jurgen Klopp allegedly “solicited” the Frenchman’s services to Liverpool. The report claims that the Reds would like to weaken their EPL rivals in this way.

The German coach thinks Kante would be ideal at Anfield. However, Boehly is reluctant to part ways with the World Cup winner and has therefore scheduled a meeting to persuade the midfielder to stay with CFC. If the 31-year-old stays fit, he’ll continue to be worth it in my opinion.
