Liverpool set to sign star for £202,000-a-week and want deal done quickly – report
Liverpool are associated with quality midfielders and once again Marcelo Brozovic’s name is in the spotlight.
According to Calcio Mercato Web, Liverpool are preparing a player plus money to terminate the Croatia international’s services during the January transfer window.
Italian media have mentioned that the Reds would like to go ahead with a proposal involving Naby Keita and Cash to sign the 30-year-old Croatia international.
The Guinea international’s contract expires this summer, leaving the Merseysiders paying big bucks to land the midfielder from Inter Milan, who is valued at around €30-35million.
Brozovic’s current contract at the San Siro expires in the summer of 2026 and he earns around £202,000 gross per week. CMW says Liverpool want a quick deal this month to sign the former Dinamo Zagreb star.
The experienced midfielder is mostly a killjoy, who can go forward and also score/create goals. With the Nerazzurri he won all the major national titles and has been a brilliant player for the national team over the years.
The 83-year-old was a key member of the Croatian squad that reached the 2018 World Cup final and won the bronze medal in Qatar last year.
He has played more than 300 games for Inter so far, scoring 30 goals and providing 37 assists. Unfortunately, he has spent a lot of time on the treatment table this season.
At Anfield, Naby Keita has been an injury-prone player since joining us in 2018. Brozovic has a decent injury record but this season hasn’t gone well.
Brozovic has started only 7 Serie A games so far and has been out due to hamstring and calf injuries. If Liverpool should move in in your opinion to secure his signing before the deadline.
