Liverpool’s expected lineup and H2H against Manchester United: Naby Keita eliminated?
After two disappointing results against Madrid and Palace, Liverpool finally gained ground by beating Wolves in mid-week and then welcoming Manchester United.
Liverpool are having a disappointing season, yet are just six points off the top four in the Premier League table. A win against United on Sunday will help them get closer to Spurs, but beating Manchester United this time around won’t be an easy task.
The Anfield side have kept clean sheets in their last four Premier League games, but unlike in previous seasons they have been by no means consistent, so they will have to do their best to contend with the visitors. Liverpool have scored 14 goals in their last four league games, but this is a very different Manchester United, so things will be much closer on Sunday.
Liverpool team news and injuries:
Thiago and Luis Diaz are both injured while Calvin Ramsey is out for the rest of the season.
Joe Gomez is also unlikely to be available which means Konate will support Van Dijk in defence, but Klopp also has the option of using Joel Matip.
Jurgen Klopp has relied heavily on Bajcetic to play in the middle of the park and with Thiago and Arthur both out, the youngster is expected to start again.
Naby Keita took a beating against Crystal Palace and will have to undergo a late fitness on Sunday. If he is available, he will start in the run-in, otherwise Bajcetic will keep his place.
Cody Gakpo played just 14 minutes as a substitute in midweek but will return to the starting XI against Manchester United. If the Liverpool boss plans to use Gakpo in the middle, Darwin Nunez will have to settle for a place on the bench as Jota is much better suited to a wider role.
Head to Head table
Liverpool predicted the line-up against Manchester United:
Estimated starting lineup (4-3-3): Alisson; Van Dijk, Konaté/Matip, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold; Bajcetic, Henderson, Fabinho; Salah, Jota/Nunez, Gakpo.
