Mohamad Salah will return to Liverpool this weekend after scoring twice for Egypt during the international break.

The Anfield number 11 has scored 22 goals in 39 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and hasn’t faltered for his national side either. Salah was among the scorers this afternoon as the Pharaohs beat Malawi 4-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations Group D qualifier.

He also provided the assist for Tarek Hamed’s opening goal and was sent off in the 75th minute after winning the match. It was a good week for the Liverpool star, who also scored in a 2-0 win against Malawi four days ago.

Salah’s goal in the first qualifying match was his 50th for his country. Now 51, he is second on the list of Egypt’s all-time top goalscorers behind Hossam Hassan, who scored 68 times for the African team.

Salah’s streak will be good news for Liverpool, who make the brief trip to Manchester on Saturday to take on champions Manchester City when their Premier League schedule resumes after the international break.

Malawi will be happy to see Salah again, but Liverpool fans are hoping Pep Guardiola’s men get an equally torrid moment from the superstar winger this weekend. Liverpool are currently sixth in the table and are about to embark on a three-star run against City, Chelsea and leaders Arsenal as they look to get back into the frame for a top four finish.
