Liverpool have ‘started process’ to sign ‘one of the best players in the world’

Journalist Ben Jacobs has a positive update for Liverpool fans on their interest in Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Liverpool managed to shrug off some criticism after beating Wolves 1-0 in an FA Cup replay on Tuesday, thanks to a miraculous goal from Harvey Elliott.

Speaking to Redmen TV, Jacobs said: “I think there’s something to that and from sources it looks like Liverpool started trying to do that with the summer in mind. “The only complication is that he’s new to Wolves and they also have a brand new manager and that can change the dynamic.

Guardiola: Nunes is ‘one of the best in the world’

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is also a big fan of the 24-year-old. Nunes played for Sporting Lisbon in a Champions League knockout tie last year.

And despite the 5-0 loss to the reigning Premier League champions, Guardiola was full of praise for the Portugal international, calling him ‘one of the best players in the world’.

“Sporting are a fantastic team, they are the champions of Portugal, they have a very strong league with Porto and Benfica, they move well, they have quick and smart players,” Guardiola said.
