Pundit Charlie Nicholas believes Liverpool could turn to Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou if Jurgen Klopp leaves the club.
Five coaches had also been linked to his job at the moment. You may many to find out in our video below as you read further.
The Reds’ season has been inconsistent to say the least, with the most recent result being a 3-0 defeat to Wolves. That defeat leaves Liverpool in 10th place in the Premier League and 11 points behind the top four.
Liverpool are now winless in their last four top-flight games. Indeed, the Reds have lost all of their last three league games, conceding three goals in each and scoring just once. Due to this form, Klopp’s position as a manager has been debated among some pundits and in some corners of social media. However, there was no indication that Klopp would quit his job at Anfield or the club would sack him.
That hasn’t stopped Nicholas from speculating that Celtic boss Postecoglou could replace Klopp in the Anfield dugout. The former Arsenal striker has explained why he thinks Postecoglou is ‘ideal’ for Liverpool.
“Jürgen Klopp would have a huge impact on Celtic,” Nicholas said in his column for the Scottish Daily Express. “I am far from a Liverpool fan, but I would be concerned about the potential impact of a managerial change at Anfield on Ange Postecoglou.
“Would the red hierarchy call with Klopp sitting on the sidelines? Liverpool aren’t having a great season and by their usual standards it’s been a real struggle.
“I know Liverpool fans don’t want Klopp out, but what happens when he turns around and says enough is enough? Could Ange become a reality for Liverpool? “Ange will also have ambitions. Yes, he’s with a top club, but would a big club in a big league have even more appeal?
5 Managers who could replace klopp
“I know Ange is building something special at Celtic, but I think Liverpool would have too much attraction for him. If Liverpool were to look for a manager then Ange would definitely come into play.
“Look at the work he has done at Celtic and the style of football he plays. Ange is also an experienced and proven manager.
“I hate saying it because I know a lot of my fellow Celtic fans won’t like it when I say it, but Ange would be ideal for Liverpool.
“I honestly think Klopp will keep the lead in the short term. But at the end of the season or if Liverpool get bought, things could change. Ange is a cutthroat winner and I like the way his teams play. “I just hope Celtic can keep Ange here for as long as possible. If the Anfield board doesn’t consider him it would be an even bigger surprise to me. Fear is fear.”
