Arsenal news: The Gunners are hoping to welcome a number of players back from March internationals ahead of the final ten games of the season

Arsenal will be hoping the international break doesn’t bring another blow to Mikel Arteta’s side this week. The Gunners have suspended their Premier League title charge to allow the final round of international matches of this season to be played ahead of a busy end to the season.

From the beginning of April, the North Londoners face ten opponents before the end of the season. The 4-1 win over Crystal Palace extended their lead over Manchester City to eight points at the top – despite Pep Guardiola’s side being one game short.

    Mohamed Elneny

Arsenal suffered a significant number of injuries throughout the season. Gabriel Jesus has missed almost 100 days of action after sustaining an internal ligament injury at the World Cup – missing 15 games.
Mohamed Elneny has also been out since January with a knee injury and will be out for the rest of the season. Most recently, right-back Takehrio Tomiyasu underwent surgery as he joined Elneny on the touchline.

Arteta hopes a similar story won’t repeat itself with four other players. William Saliba and Eddie Nketiah – who both missed out on winning Palace – will look to use the two-week break to give themselves a chance to come back. Salbia was forced out of the Europa League defeat to Sporting CP with a back problem and subsequently retired from the France international. Nketiah, who has been out since early March, will be out for a “few weeks” and hopes to return as soon as possible.

    William Saliba

For Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Jesus, the goal is to rebuild their fitness after a time-out. Jesus has come off the bench in his last two league games and will remain at London Colney during the international break to give himself the best chance to start against Leeds.

    Eddie Nketiah

Smith Rowe, who has taken a few hits all season, is hoping to pick up valuable minutes for the England under-21s. The Hale Ender has been a constant figure off the bench over the past month, but has struggled to get back into shape after such a long spell.

The Gunners welcome Leeds to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 1 April before facing Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea in April. Arteta desperately needs to have many of his players available for the period that marked the history of the season.
