Arsenal have offered Brighton a £60m offer for midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have already signed Belgian forward Leandro Trossard from the Seagulls during the January transfer window, as well as Polish centre-back Jakub Kiwior from Serie A side Specia. Now Romano has reported on social media that he has made an offer for Caicedo because they want to strengthen their options at the center of the park.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal have made a £60m offer to sign Moises Caicedo as their new midfielder.

“Negotiations begin at key stages for Caicedo’s future.” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made no secret of wanting to boost midfield options before next week’s transfer deadline, while Egypt international Mohamed Elneny is currently out with a knee problem.

“There are concerns. Mo is a player who never complains about anything, but let’s see,” Arteta said while discussing Elneny ahead of Friday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester City. “Ideally we need a bit more cover in midfield if we can.

But this market is complicated. But like I always say, the most important thing is that we get the performance and the time on the pitch is really good with the players we already have on the pitch.”
