There were four things spotted during training in Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp came into the training facility with a VIP guest

The iconic ex-Reds player and manager was at the £50million training facility in Kirkby ahead of a performance at the M&S Bank Arena on Thursday night, where he will be part of the panel for the Sky Sports event “The Overlap Live”.

Along with his daughter Kelly Cates, the legendary Dalglish will join Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, Roy Keane and host Josh Denzel for the live version of the hit YouTube show, where all the esteemed speakers discuss their careers and current events in the soccer.

Ahead of his appearance on the banks of the River Mersey, Dalglish was invited to watch Liverpool training as Jurgen Klopp put his players through their paces ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wolves in the Premier League.

The legendary Scot, who personally handed Klopp the Premier League title with a win at Anfield in July 2020, was photographed chatting with the current manager on the sideline as the players trained ahead of the visit to Molineux.

Elsewhere, Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino appeared to be taking individual sessions on the outside of Kirkby base as they continued their respective returns from injury.

Van Dijk has been out since retiring midway through the 2 January defeat to Brentford with a hamstring injury, while Firmino has not played since mid-November with a calf problem.

It was initially hoped Firmino could play a role in Liverpool’s festive period after picking up an injury on the eve of their Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City on 22 December, but a setback in that recovery saw him miss nine games in total.

It is unclear whether either will be declared fit for Saturday’s game, as Klopp will deliver the latest injury news during Friday afternoon’s press conference at the AXA Centre.

Young goalkeeper involved

Goalkeeper Jakub Ojrzynski was among the shots involved in Thursday’s session alongside Alisson Becker, Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher following the young Pole’s recent return from a loan spell at Radomiak Radom.

The 19-year-old returned to Merseyside in mid-January after just three appearances in all competitions after being loaned out to Welsh Premier League side Caernarfon Town last season.

Phillips is seeking for attention

Nat Phillips was another involved in the session as he looks to get Klopp’s attention in the absence of Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, who will also be out with hamstring injuries in the coming weeks.

Phillips had attracted interest late in the transfer window but Konate’s problem meant he was blocked when he walked away and Klopp was keen to keep the defender as cover for Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

Phillips has made just two starts this season but is in contention this weekend as Klopp ponders what to do in the absence of Konate, who recently worked under Gomez after Matip lost 3- 0 at Brighton in the Premier League.
