A few early fouls by United are irritating home fans. The Reds have a chance to get a free-kick in the box but it’s a poor delivery and easy to clear.

BEGIN

United puts us on the path.

The teams are coming out. Electric atmosphere as expected.

Five minutes before kick-off

Soon it’s time for the big game. Before the match, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp stressed the importance of his side showing aggression, but not too much.

The decision not to start Stefan Bajcetic may be confusing to some Liverpool fans given the qualities the 18-year-old possesses.

David de Gea warms up before the match. Can he keep a clean sheet today as Manchester United look to close the gap to those above them?

Liverpool know they cannot afford many more slips if they are to finish in the top four. It will be interesting to see how their top three of Salah, Gakpo and Nunez combine against United.

Jordan Henderson, Andrew Robertson and Cody Gakpo will leave for Liverpool in place of Bajcetic, Tsimikas and Jota.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho, who was a doubt before this game, is on the bench at United. Erik ten Hag has designated an unchanged squad from the squad that started the Carabao Cup Final against Newcastle.

There should be a fantastic atmosphere at Anfield and the wait is ahead. In this season’s second leg, United beat Liverpool 2-1 early in Erik ten Hag’s tenure. Another win today would see United extend their winning streak to five games in all competitions.

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been in incredible form over the past few months.

Roy Keane admits he doubted Rashford had the ‘personality’ to be United’s key player.

Liverpool are expected to remain without Arthur, Thiago, Joe Gomez and Luis Diaz for this game. United, meanwhile, will assess Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho.

It was a difficult season for Liverpool which lacked consistency. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side still have a chance to make the top four – they are currently six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with two games less. A win today could be huge.

Manchester United certainly seem to have reached a milestone under Erik ten Hag and they already have a trophy this season after winning the Carabao Cup final last weekend. Although they are 14 points behind leaders Arsenal, United still have two games to go, starting with today, and will be determined to close the gap.

To do that, however, they will have to do something they have failed to do in seven years by winning at Anfield.
